Square Enix's ideas are stupid. Hell, Dark Fencers get better capabilities in Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. Give us something like Eye for an Eye. Make it a job trait that increases Attack directly in proportion to how much HP you have left. The less HP you have, the stronger your attacks. That would be an improvement, because then we'd have an advantage to not using Blood Weapon in combination with Souleater. I mean, sure, we get Attack Bonus V, but that's obviously not good enough anymore.

Lot's of suggestions pitched with any changes in the upcoming patch have a lot to do with comparing jobs to each other. But you know what you should compare DRK to? DRK. What fits the theme of the job in a new way that compliments what it's got?
Frankly, if I were to construct the details of the two things they named, they could be decent, maybe even surprisingly useful. And practical. But I do not trust SE to jump from HP-gouging spike damage canon to this TP-dropping EleWS mage in any good kind of way.
You know what we did with Occult Acumen? Nothing.

I am new to the forums but i've been playing Drk as a main since 2004. Personally. I think when it comes to damage comparison. A Drk compares to the other DDs but we have to decide if we want to do lots of DPS or lots of WS damage. All our big WS are TP increases damamge. Which means Atma's like Griffon's Claw are useful and Smiting Blow. Which increases our ws output. RR,VV,GH doesn't give us massive damage to our weaponskills like it does for a Nin/War/Thf/Mnk/Dnc These jobs have WS that make use of critical hits and with abyssea making that a big way of dealing damage you really run out of big damage potential all around. (This is not to say you can't do massive damage with Drk/Thf and force crits on said WS. But /thf means we lose a lot of JA's that help with survivability and setup.) See if Drk had WeaponSkills for scythe and Greatsword that utilized critical hits Since we also have Crit att bonus trait. Then the story would be different and WS like Torcleaver would be used to cause aftermath and then use our crit WS. I've seen comments about Guillotine. Have you tried using Insurgency? They're Multihits to give us huge bonuses to damage, by using Souleater. If you can get 4200HP on drk a 4-6hit ws accounting for possible double or triple attacks you're gonna be landing an additional 1600-2400 damage. Which in general means you double the ws damage. I'm just estimating really. But I think One of the big killers for Drk in my opinion is that SE leans on Scythe more then Greatsword. If anything having an additional Souleater that functioned for the next single hit. Not attack. Like Sneak Attack. for like level 60. that used a larger chunk of our health. Somewhere between 40-60% would balance out the greatsword and scythe. This is my opinion. Theres more too but this is just my opening thoughts.
New 1h weapon for DRK; Sickle. A- skill, critical hit ws somewhere in the mix; add it into a new actual expansion with new zones, a few new jobs, etc. That's about all I got for creativity but I've been thinking 'why not' since I got 75 in '04. Not reading through everything to see if it's been recommended before, but I know I've seen it brought up in the Japanese forums once.
