So that instead of exorbetant amounts of lumber and materials you can buy typical amounts of it, then use said skills to make framework and additions items to make your home bigger for the quest. Makes the process a lot easier...
Sounds like a plan! But to be honest they'd probably dumb it down to woodworking and metalworking. :0 That wouldn't be so bad either.
I'll try to write up a full summary of the things we've discussed in here and post it in due time. Let's get this into proper gear. :D
Mog House Expansion
A simplified version, 1.0
1: Requirements for Expanding One's home.
Mog house expansions will require certain criteria to be met in one's adventuring lifestyle to spur a moogle into thinking that a bigger home might be required to live comfortably. These criteria, so far, include but are not limited to:
1: Having enough furniture to maximize one's storage capacity in their home.
2: Having enough possessions to fill this storage to it's capacity of 80 items.
3: Having the sufficient ranks of either 6 or 10 in their home nations.
Believably, these conditions can be met at any time, but being sequential would be preferred for simplicity.
The first upgrade would add an additional room on either the side, or back of your mog house respective of the limitations of your home nations architecture.
The second upgrade would do the same thing as the first upgrade, still limited by the requirements of the homes architecture, and add an identical room.
The third upgrade would add a loft above the main floor of the mog houses first floor, and place stairs leading from the back of the room to the loft. This is easier due to the fact that most mog houses have areas in the rear of the room that cannot have furniture placed in them lest they obstruct the houses primary decoration.
Each upgrade would require:
1: A sum of gil to handle the expenses and labor involved in expanding the home.
2: Framework items (created through woodworking or metalworking), as well as certain "flavor" items to assist in it's construction.
3: (Optional) Completion of a quest to find proper labor, or rare items required in the upgrades.
4: The appropriate conditions met including rank.
2: The Process. (Off the cuff)
First Upgrade: When a persons storage is maximized and filled their moogle would express that the current space in their home seems to be cluttered and messy, and yet there is no more space to put things away, and throwing them out would probably upset you. But then at that point the solution becomes clear! More space to store your things!
Knowing you're busy with your work, the moogle offers the knowledge that he knows members of the local guilds that would be willing to work in expanding your home for a fair price, so long as you can also provide the materials. If you agree the space is needed, he'll give you a list of materials needed.
Upon completion and delivery of the items required the moogle will joyfully accept the task of delivering them to the guild workers and getting the process started. After one full week (or conquest tally or server maintenence or what have you) the expansion will be completed, much to your moogle's, and your storage space's, delight.
Second Upgrade: The demeanor of your neighbors are changing. After obtaining rank 6 and defeating the Shadow Lord people are clamoring at your accomplishments and lauding you with various gifts. The only trouble is your moogle is having trouble accepting them due to the fact that your home cannot accommodate all of them! Not to mention to do so without throwing out your various treasures and possessions! The time has once again come that you may need to start thinking about where to put all your possessions.
If you agree, the moogle once again hands you a list of materials needed to be obtained, this time more sturdy materials, perhaps even rarer materials. He would obtain them himself on your orders if he wasn't busy tending to the needs of the home while you were away! After completing and delivering the list to your moogle he'll get the ball rolling. After one full week (or conquest tally or server maintenence or what have you) your house will once again have it's expansion completed!
Third Upgrade: You've finally done it. Not only have you become a true hero to your nation, you've caught the eyes of your admirers, and your nations leader, whether they be the Star Sibyl, King, or President. Your moogle has received a letter from them saying how much they truly appreciate your work, and that they feel a hero should be properly recognized by the nation they live in, by the house that they live in.
Providing you with a list of materials needed for the expansion the moogle asks if you want to accept this gift from your nation. If you agree then all that remains is to collect the necessary things. Once you complete the list, you realize that your nation is fronting the bill! Your moogle says the materials will be delivered shortly and work will begin quickly! Everyone wants to be able to work for a hero! After two full weeks (or conquest tally or server maintenence or what have you again) the expansion will be completed, and your mog house fully upgraded!
3: The Optional Stuff (not necessarily included)
1: Furniture Storage: Your home has become so large and filled with things your poor moogles wings are having trouble holding up all the heavy objects in his bags, magical or not! They suggest it might be an excellent idea to consider more permanent solutions to where you're going to store your furniture in the future!
2: The Balcony or Greenhouse: While your moogle might have a green thumb the likes of which no other moogle can compare to, the plants you're trying to grow might want more sunlight to help them grow big and strong! This might be a good excuse to add an exterior expansion to your mog house, even if it comes included in the final expansion of your mog house.
4: What Else? (Things maybe not even in this project)
1: Split Elements: "The fire element in your main room is fizzling out the ice element in your second room, which is in turn getting harassed by your water element in the third! I think it might be a fair idea to keep them separated!" says your flustered moogle as they try to manage your home. But hey, that's what magic is for! Keeping the elements in your home split apart would not only impart you with a more balanced strategy for how your furniture is placed out, but where it is placed out to provide you with the bonuses you need, where you need them. And more so, no more puddles randomly appearing in your home!
Once again I believe we might be off track a bit here... xD
We can start another thread based on the (mis)reatment of our moogles at another time.
Does anyone have an opinion on my summary earlier?
*Prods thread*
Hey Wibbly ^^/wave I had to take this all in to get a full understanding of what I would be illustrating! I think a lot of folks did a great job visually detailing the kinds of things one would see in these luxuriously expanded Mog Houses though, so I have enough material to produce some cool images ^^.
I'll try my best to bring to life this cool concept :)
(p.s. thanks for considering me for the task :D )
--------
Thanks ^^; and nah, I've never used either of those (skype, MSN messenger) I'll have to dig up some home images for some inspiration lol I usually only draw characters and try to avoid architecture when at all possible >< lol But I never back down from a challenge :)
Old lady taru~~~ cant have grammas stuck in industrial studio homes can you?
Before they do this, I want to be able to sit down on chairs.
One thing at a time!
>x3
I've expressed again and again this thread is about mog house expansion! Once that's conceptualized and agreed upon then we could move on to other things!
I want to be able to sleep in my bed... Why do i even have one??
Sorry wibbly did that on purpose :)
Anyways I think by making a ls (mog)house it would be possible to have your own rooms and decorate your own , if not other group rooms. I guess thats all wishfull thinking though, a bigger moghouse probably seems more reasonable.
I always thought my mog house was kind of small :\
Would be nice if there was more space to put out furniture.. you had a separate storage allocation to decorate your mog house
I think a game room in the mog would be nice. We could go there and play solitair farmville etc.
._. Honestly if this happens I'm sticking storage in one room, fish tanks in the other, bulk in the main room, and "personal" items in the loft...
It's fun to imagine. :3
I want a Balkony too ... imagine, right in front of a small lake where you see birds and trees ..wouldnt this be sweet? (for windy) Or with a view on an Oasis (in Bastok), with a forrest and a small river (sandy)...
Or a Terrace ..something where you can relax..you know.
Well a Balkony behind your MH dont have to be in the middle of your City or in that direction - i was more thinking about the connected areas.
smile it would be nice wherever it is
breau, alexander/bastok
What they need to do is not have equipped items take up inventory space. I'm wearing it... it shouldn't STILL be in my bags, it's ON ME.
----------
/stagger lol I must say that there was no fast way to do this pic ><; I now remember why I keep my distance from architecture and buildings in my art lol
Anywho, I hope this paints a decent picture of the concepts ^^/ There would be many different ways to show these great concepts, but I'd prolly do them one room at a time from now on! lol
>Expanded Mog Houses<.... /Kingfury draws numerous sqiggly lines to relax his brain from all those straight lines ~.~ :)

2: Usable Furniture: Multiple animations have been added to allow NPC's to enjoy their environments, so why shouldn't PC's be able to as well? Allowing use of your furniture adds one, notably comfortable, layer to the uses of the furniture you purchase for your home. Sit down to meetings with your LS by actually sitting down to a meeting! Feed your fish tanks! Take a cat nap in your arm chair next to the fire.

Glad you like it ^^ / I didn't think you'd be awake at this hour, but I'm glad I got your feedback on it before I hit the sack lol I think I'd like to show the whole balcony scene at least, but I'd have to go back through to recall what the post said exactly :)
Undecided really! Could be a street view of the city you're in. Could be the outlying areas. Honestly wouldn't be objected to either. I think we'd just need to impress the dev team with the ideas!
Annnnd I'm always up at these times. I'm actually a night worker and with the down time there's nothing to do to entertain myself other than random ideas. :3
Keep up the good work honey!
