For those of us who still support the PS2 version of FFXI

lol yeah it is pretty easy to get a PC to play it on. bet it would look good on my Mac (but I hate playing games on PC). I am a console player all the way, PC is for surfing the net & trolling forums O.o

can't post a link to it, but 3BTech had this deal in an email I got on 3/19:

All it's lacking is monitor/kbd/mouse/speakers, which (aside from monitor)most of those can be found cheap just about anywhere--but you could probly run it to an LCD TV (if you have one) via DVI/HDMI converter (some even have standard VGA input as well, so just need a cheap VGA cable).

and if you don't like using mouse/kbd--a usb converter to connect PS2/XB/GC controllers run $10 or less--think even Walmart is still carrying the one I bought. If not, the logitech clones of the PS2 run $20 or less just about everywhere.

I bought a LAPTOP off Ebay 2 YEARS ago that exceeds those specs for only $280 +$35 shipping. I See NEW PC's that FAR exceed those specs all the time for around $200 online, $300 locally. I probly have enough spare parts laying around to make one already:

P35 Mboard... check
Core2 Duo 3GHZ CPU...check
40 GB HD... check
ATI X1900 vid card... check
4GB DDR2 RAM... check
old beat up case with 650W ATX PSU... check
15" monitor... check
PS2 mouse check
Pioneer DVD-R Burner... Check
Floppy disk drive (don't really need... but... check)
PCI XiFi soundcard if I don't like onboard audio... check
Windows 98 SE and Windows XP Upgrade Disk--scored a 2 for one deal years ago when I got mine, never used other one, so....Check
Ethernet cable--several ranging from 3-12 feet in length, or I can use USB wifi adaptor I used to use for laptop years ago--check.

hmmm... the only thing I'm lacking is a keyboard... $10 at Big lots down the street... check.
UC can be downloaded for $10, then $30 for abyssea add-ons

soooo... that would cost me $50 to put another box online

I just might have to let my daughter play FFXI one day after all.....

nice haha i've always played it on Xbox till i quit for RL reasons..but im returning now when it comes online lol...and thats nice sadly i dont know how to put together a PC :P but i know a few people willing to if i wanted but i got a nice laptop atm :) so im set i could 2 box if i wanted to but oh well..
