Correct. It not only makes good business sense if you have a footprint in a region, but it likely provides some legal benefits as well. My payments here in SC have been sent through a US based clearinghouse and the payments were going through the California offices of SE.

This situation is different then FFXIV, 14 started fresh with new payment requires click&buy / crysta or GTFO. If you don't agree with neither, you don't need to start playing as people do not have 8-9 years of attachment to their character / LS.

I bet this was also one of the many reasons why FF14 didn't take off, was due to the choice of payment method, at least thats one of the reason for me. Why is it so hard to pay them money!?

... and from there on to SE's main offices in Japan. Why was this whole... 'plan'... of SE's implemented so late in the game's life?
