Back in ye days of old when I was registering score still, I saw names that registered the previous day already with same points being below others, and vice versa, as well as the same names being below some others at other times.

Do wonder if those that don't get listed will still get the title.

Not an Asura only problem, this one.

names are ordered based on when they were first added to the moogle's rankings, regardless of what rank they held.

I just tested and confirmed that if not in the top 100 even if you are tied for it and registered your points you do NOT get the title from the npc. SE needs to fix this or change the text indicating that only first place tie of 100 will get the title.

As the sort order is (apparently) by the total number of points > time of first registration, at least they could say that so people going for max points can "plan" around the possibility of being left off the final rankings with more than 100 ties, that the rankings shouldn't be limited to 100 notwithstanding.

I doubt they expected the rankings to be filled out with 100 max-pointers, particularly with the same players who constantly go for max points with their main + alts for all 8 Vana'Bouts. (Or, rather, should they expect such behavior.)

Some further information.

The May 2024 version update notes said those who "earned a top ten rating" in Vana'Bout can get the title ('Venerated Adventurer'), not the first ten on the list (either on day 0 or the final day), and not the first ten who obtained max points that are on the list but aren't necessarily in the first ten positions. I describe those last two in comparison to the actual stated criterion because I have seen it asserted that they explain why the sort order is the way it is, even though those assertions have little to no supporting evidence or are apparently shown to be false as a sole criterion.

Players have gotten the title previous to round 8 even if they were listed 11th or lower in the rankings because they still got a top 1 "rating." I've intentionally registered late in a past round after observing a 14-way tie for first, ending up 15th on the list but still getting a top 1 rating, and still got the title. 100 registered characters with max points (probably) get the title after viewing the final ranking because they got a top 1 "rating."

It has also been established that those who register for max points later can jump those who registered for max points earlier in the list of rank 1 ties, and that you can be third in the rankings on on day 0 but still be 90th on the list of rank 1 ties upon final registration (this observation apparently ruling out the idea that the sort order is based on when a character was first added to to the rankings).

And it has been attested that 2 characters getting round 8 max points at the same time and then registering around the same time still ended up not being adjacent on the rankings, so the sort order "clearly" isn't based solely on the time max points was obtained, or solely on the time of registering with 1400 points, or the time first added to the rankings.


Not that how the sort order works should even matter. It's still unfair to those who registered and still have a top 1 rating not to be able to obtain the title just because the visible ranking maxes out at 100, especially when you know there are players +/- their alts who have maxed out points every single time since the May 2024 Vana'Bout and are likely to continue to do so for future rounds. This is likely to cause other players not to be able to get the title for the first time even though they still "earned a top ten rating," because you condition title obtainment on registration + showing up on the visible ranking, the sort order being handled in a way that is not obvious.

TBH if you continue to make the objectives as easy or easier than those in round 8 so that it's easy to max out points, you might as well bestow the title upon obtainment of max points (or perhaps a total that is slightly lower so as not to obligate players to do every single daily Vana'Bout objective) and do away with the rankings.

So it's clearly limited to the capacity of the list, although it will go beyond the top 10 if more than 10 tie the same score.

It certainly seems to be a technical limitation of the list system (The same user list mechanism is used for some other content including ballista rankings, Brenner's LS Liga ranking, and probably some other stuff I'm not immediately thinking of.

Although it seems to be straightwarward "if you're not on the list you don't get the prize," SE clearly didn't account for this when they made the objectives easier to complete thereby increasing the number of people who would 100% the event. This definitely needs to be revised / replaced so that people who put in the work get the reward

What's more bizzare about the system is it rewards signing up as soon as possible even if you haven't done anything yet. No one could reasonably be expected to know this and I'm sure a lot of people didn't even talk to the NPC more than once (much less registering their name) before completing everything.
