......mmmmm.... I hope they will reactivate the service soon I don't want to pay a full month fee for a bunch of days.

I bought dissidia 012 to keep me from spamming the website to see if it's back up yet, but it doesn't help seeing Prishe and Shantotto flying around casting AMs and One-Inch punching everything...
I apologize for the delay! We received notification from the lead that it will take a bit more time to re-open the character reactivation service. Once it is back up we will make an announcement on the news section of PlayOnline. Thanks so much for your patience!

Ok so I paid for this month in the hope it was gonan be as you said and those two weeks have passed.You think it will be another month? Im not paying for next month and not being able to play again.

Went to reactivate my character, character was there but it wouldnt finish the process on the last step it would say there was a error with either 3 possible causes. Playonline maintenance, ffxi maintenance, or connection issue. Contacted playonline, they couldnt help me, told me to wait and try again later. Tried over 10 times with same message at same step each time. Called playonline again, they suggested using a different online browser. Went to try it again and now the character i wanted to reactivate is no longer on the list with two other mules missing off the list. Called playonline again, they couldnt help me and they said they had no record of my character. Now i have lost a character with 4 75's all missions completed, alot of R/EX gear and they cant do nothing..... Is anyone else having problems with the service? Please someone out there give me a heads up that i'm not the only one and maybe there was a solution that i'm not aware of. Thanks again.
Well mine was kind of a similar experience.Had no problems with the actual filling in of the forms, no error messages etc.However when I get on to the selection screen the character I want to restore isn't there.I phone them up and they check my POL ID etc and all the info.There are only 2 IDs to check on so theyask me if I made another char over this ID.I tell them no and I didn't cancel the ID either.They cannot find any record of the char ever existing.They are looking into it and said they will contact Japan to see if they can help as its a mystery.They even used my data to try and find it themselves at the centre.I am wondering if maybe its going to take a day or so for them to show up.I went looking on forums and found a guy who had tested this reactivation theory and it seemed that chars could take up to 3 days to appear.So.....I reactivated 3 old ID's I have not used for ages and deleted them.I went back to the char reactivation service and whilst more old chars from the new IDs showed up the ones I had just deleted didnt.So.........I am going to pray that my char WILL show up over the next few days.
So no, your not the only one whos char data has dissapeared off the face of the earth.Keep me posted on any luck you might have.
And if its any consolation I have 9 lvl 90s on mine with some full af3+2 sets :( etc

Just to clarify, although the terms and conditions say you need an NA version of POL as the service is designed for NA players, that's not true. I'm in EU, use EU version of POL and I had no trouble (once I realized you need to link an active credit card to your POL account and that you have to buy the content ID before you can confirm which character to reactivate).

I tried to use this service today but when it came to the final click it failed! ;;
Efod same thing happened to me then after 10 trys or so is when characters i wanted to reactivate disappeared from list. There is a obvious problem since it seems to me I wasnt the only one to have this problem. I still havent had any response back by email when i sent the issue to technical support. I am hoping that after waiting a few days my character will be back on list because support from on phone was unable to help me or assure me that issue will be resolved. I was basically told to hope for the best... Good luck Efod and if you are able to get your character back through some issue please post so i might have some other info to go on for the situation i am having.

No given time it seems, but tonight I tried again and another one popped up. Its gone from 23 to 26 now, still waiting for the one I want to pop on.
Hey Karma who did you talk with that tried helping you with the problem you are having? Each time i have tried contacting tech support either through email or phone they say they have no control over character reactivation service and that they can't help me. Any info that you could provide would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
SE customer support on +44 (0)870 600 0182.They have been extremelly helpfull.They said they cant personally have any control over the service but are in contact with Japan for me to try and sort it.Theres an investigation going on is all I can tell you.The people on the mail and phone centre are the same people so I always ring up because its easier to talk over the phone than email back and forth.Try mailing them with a breif description of the char, last time it was logged on, Nation, gil, 2 of its highest jobs etc.I don't know why some chars take longer than others to pop up, doesn't seem to be a pattern or set time.

My wife is having an issue with this service as well atm. All of the characters she has ever had on her account from way back when she started are on the list, but the most recent ones deleted don't show up at all.
We tried calling but all we got was some "it's automated and we have no control" bullshit excuse.
The service was available for me when it first came back up. And even though the page displayed a "YES" next to whether the character could be reactivated or not, some could and others couldn't. So I figured I'd try and check back every day or so. Now I don't even get my list of characters. The error message displayed is "You did not use FINAL FANTASY XI services before canceling your PlayOnline account. You are not eligible for this service."
Well, I've never canceled my PlayOnline account. In fact, I started playing an alt while I waited for the service to come back up. So it's still active.
Does anyone else get this error message and do the mods know of a revised timeline for the service? Thanks!
Well today a char I deleted on the 9th showed up.I deleted it to test the service while I wait for news of my main.Just looks like its scrambled :3.Waiting on Japan to see if they can find it.
Anyone else getting error messages saying your PlayOnline account was deleted even if you're still playing? I just find it odd that I was able to see my list of characters one day, and a few days later they're gone.
the whole thing is odd if you ask me.How can a char deleted on 31st May not appear but one on 9th June appear.Its all too wierd.

Still nothing as far as my main character is concerned. I also deleted a character to see how long it takes for it to reappear on list. My deleted character showed back up within a week and a half but still nothing from my main that was removed off reactivation list after not being able to select it in final steps of reactivation. He disappeared off list after trying 10+ times to reactivate it and of course no one from Playonline can help me either on phone or through emails. I am not giving up hope but i just don't understand why they have no control over a service that they are providing and can offer me no information on my character. I also have not seen any official response on forum for all the fellow players that are having problems with the service. Will one of the associates that responds on forum please give us some kind of information or even a official response on why some players are having these issues and any possible fixes for service or something that the players can do as far as getting their characters back. Any official response is better than having quite a few players left in the dark. Thank you in advance for any information is provided.
It seems that once a char is put in the massive deleted pool that no one can see any info on it apart from Japan.I think you should ring them and ask them to contact Japan as they are the only SE employees who have the tools to look for your character.If it appeared then dissapeared something glitched.When I get home I will look for the name of the rep who helped me and maybe you can speak to him he was really helpful.But the long and short of it is, it HAS to be Japan who look for it.You NEED to get SE to mail them with the request.ONLY Japan have the tools to help you.

Hey guys I've been playing for a long time and last year I deleted my character swearing I'd never come back since I was just way too busy with other things. But like most of you I've felt the itch and I have made my way back into the game. I really wanted to play as my main character again but the Character Reactivation service seems to be down?

OK So I just reactivated my old 04 account and wanted to recover my LV75 everything character but the rep was kind enough to tell me as I was recovering my account that I would need to start over fresh and that the Reactivation service is down, with no timeline for recovery.
Further research show me there was never even an announcement that it went down again.
How about we get an official word on this? Otherwise I just wasted $12 and 2hrs for nothing.

Talked to the call center the other day, was told that the dev team was working on some kind of changes to the billing system and after that was done the character reactivation service would be returned. The impression I was given is that theirs nothing wrong with the service there just waiting on something else to be done first. Then again this is SE, I wasn't really surprised when I found out it was down, they don't exactly make a habit of listening to there customer base.
For now we can only wait, My money is on that I'll get 75 again with out using any grounds before I get my old character back.
