Np I still need to figure out what the /targetopp one is for tho I used it and I didn't notice anything change
It's for PvP, it targets the nearest enemy player.
Hmmm should be possible to use it on a charmed player to then id think
I think best solution right now is to use <stnpc> instead of <t> in your macro.
It targets nearest enemy npc, but you can still decide if you fire it off on this mob or switch to a link or something.
Macro would looke like this: /ma "stun" <stnpc>
I wish SE would fix F8. There is no reason for them to change it, let alone change it and not even mention it in the update notes. :(
It is in the update notes under bug fixes. Because apparently it was a bug that went unfixed for 10 years, and SE apparently had no idea we all got used to the functionality and no idea it wasn't intended.
To be fair, it wasn't an aptly named command targeting monsters first, but nevertheless we used it for that reason.
We need a forum moderator to get the development team to explain this. This is causing alot of people to be upset and I feel people need a reason why it was adjusted.Quote:
Sep 16, 2015 (JST) Version Update
Resolved Issues
- This issue wherein pressing F8 when a monster is in a player's field of vision would give targeting priority to monsters rather than non-combat NPCs directly in front.
The funny part is it says "non combat NPCs" but it will target trusts (clearly not non-combat) over mobs.
It would be cool maybe if they allowed us to map the function keys, new F8 does have niche functions like targeting pop spots when there are mobs in view but being able to map the old F8 functionality to a function key would be great too, pretty sure it was the only function key I actually used in game.
It's also super annoying if you use a game pad to target monsters. But it looks like they may be changing it again based on this: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...980#post562980 so hopefully it will be better. I'm hoping they change it back to how it was because I don;t want to have to do some weird custom button scheme on my controller.
It's funny because they said people asked in the forums to have the functionality changed to prioritize NPCs, and that's why they changed in in the first place. XD
Either way, I hope the change back makes it for the next update, because it's annoying.
In regards to the changes made to the F8 key, we received several requests on the forums from players who wanted NPC targeting to be prioritized before enemy targeting. For this reason, we implemented the behavior change during the September version update.
However, because of this, now there are players who would like the behavior to be reverted back to how it was originally. Therefore, we're planning to make one of the following adjustments:
We'd like to hear from the community on which option you'd like to be considered.
- Revert the behavior of the F8 key back to what it was before September 16, 2015
- Set the previous behavior of the F8 key to either the F7 or F10 key
- Leave the current behavior as is
Additionally, please note that when assigning the F8 key behavior to another key, it will be difficult to assign new functions to anything outside of the F7 or F10 key. (We believe the F7 and F10 key's function can be covered with the F1 key.)
I can get used to F7 targeting so option 2 is slightly preferable but Option 1 is just about as good in my eyes. Please do not leave things as they are now.
I'll second using F7 for the old F8 behavior, since it and F1 both serve the exact same function. Having the ability to selectively target the closest enemy or the closest NPC would be an improvement over both the old and the new F8.
Yeah assigning the functionality to the F7 key seems like a good alternative.
PS > Plus F7 is the never surrender key in Smite. :3
Just a thought, but you could also add a configuration that allows the player to set F8 to the old or new style. Everyone wins this way too. Could put it in the config menu or just simply use a command like /f8targeting [old/new].
Beyond that though, if we have to pick one of those 3 options, options 1 or 2 are fine either way with me.
Revert it back and move the NPC targeting to F7.
It was the green button which is also the select button. That's why I want it switched back to the way it was. Otherwise you have to map one of the other buttons like a bumper or something to select nearest Mob, which is sort of lame after 10 years of muscle memory.
I use the Dpad to select the nearest mob, Just push up and you got that target highlighted. Also to cycle through mob(s) if there is more than one use left and or right on the Dpad.Quote:
What's the Target Nearest Mob button on a controller?
Edit:
Who the heck requested this change in the first place. Certainly nobody on the English side, that's for sure, as I've never even seen it discussed here.
At any rate, I agree with the other comments here. Revert the functionality back and add the current functionality to F7.
Revert it back and move the NPC targeting to F7.
I'm having trouble understanding why people would want to prioritize npc's to begin with, please change F8 back to how it has functioned for years and years.
That'd be even better, actually.
Treasure caskets, books, Outpost NPCs (assuming anyone but me actually talks to them anymore)... That said, you'd be hard-pressed to find a situation where it's critical that you target the nearest NPC right now, unlike targeting the nearest enemy.
I play rdm I sleepaga everything and fast tab to eat I'm going to hit lol
Revert to original, and make F7 the target NPC key.
I've been using the f8 key for over a decade in my targeting. The change is the most frustrating thing I've faced in the game to date. F7 for target NPC please.Quote:

Same... I discovered f8 almost as soon as I started getting used to the controls in like 03 and has been a major factor in my targeting since. If it hadn't existed I quite possibly might not have even primarily lvld mages especially rdm at first because it would make target changing that much harder
Please SE, either revert back or target NPC with F7. I really miss F8. :(
Please revert F8. If you must create a bind for targeting NPC's, then use F7. F10 would be a poor decision.
They already posted that they would...
Having a second targeting option on F7 would be ideal! The more targeting options available to players the better!!
Greetings, everyone.
I have some follow-up information to share in regards to the F8 key.
Based on the feedback received from everyone, we will be changing the F8 key back to its original function and moving the current feature to the F10 key.
We'll be implementing this change in the November version update.
Thank you for all your suggestions!
