My bad, sorry.
90% of the important NPC are in port windy, but theres no AH there (only in walls and woods). and vw warpers are in waters... so cant really choose just ONE zone...

Totally agree 100% with the reworked Seacom system. Made a thread about this a while ago: /SEACOMSHOUT (SUBJECT) Command: *All Server-Wide Shout
--------------------
In the event that the Seacom system is STILL a no go, then I also agree with the "Yell feature in all towns and cities", with the addition of a new item that players could carry along with them that would allow players the chance to listen to such messages on the go while not inside towns/cities.
Since the introduction of the new technological direction of the Orchestrion:http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/at...028041&thumb=1The introduction of a new type of personal radio-like receiver (along the same technology as the Orchestrion) that we could stash in one of our numerous travel bags that would allow us to still hear the city/town yells should we want to. Like any other chat log feature, the ability to turn off the signal would be included.http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/1...houtcomweb.jpgPlayers would have to complete a standard quest to obtain the personal receiver, and would be a rare/ex item.
--------------
I thought about that also, but I was worried that players might not be able to toggle the receiver on/off if it was a key item. I was thinking of a similar item that we players can toggle on or off, and the only thing I could think of was the new "hide helmet" feature which is a tangible item that we have in our physical inventory. If we could still have that functionality with a key item though, I would take it for sure.
It would be nice if there in addition to a chat channel that worked across several cities, was also a chat channel that was for each individual multi-zone city (or just make it for each region).
Sometimes you want to organize an event, and then you might want to send your messages to everyone in cities everywhere, but sometimes you might already be out in the field, and have an issue that is pretty specific to the area you are in, and this is where it would be nice to send a message to everyone in the same region as you.
I saw this thread and I really wanted to respond to this but was training elsewhere so I couldn't log on. I love the idea of the receiver and was actually going to suggest something similar to it but was going to call it a World Pearl.
Once you go to Adoulin there could be a npc that you could either buy it from (for I'd say 50,000G, he/she'll make it sound extravagant) or do a quest for. Upon receiving it you will gain the ability to hear yells from Adoulin anywhere you go. It would be a key item and you can turn it on or off in the config menu or chat filters.
After receiving the World Pearl you can go to any town and receive power from a NPC that will grant your World Pearl the ability to hear that yell from that city or town.
San d'Oria
Windurst
Bastok
Jeuno
Aht Urghan
Rabao
Selbina
Norg
Mhaura
Nashmau
Each town or city's yell can be turned on and off under the config menu or chat filter. This will in turn not only make it where you can hang out in your favorite towns again but for new players it won't ruin new areas they never heard of. I was thinking as well you can add past cities if you do a quest in the past that gives the World Pearl the ability to ignore time or dimensions. Until you do that quest the World Pearl would be unusable in Abyssea, Dynamis, Walk of Echos, Provenance or the past. Once done you can hear yells from past cities and listen to yell in other dimensions.
Howdy!
Thanks for all the feedback on which areas you would like to see the /yell feature added to.
With the release of Seekers of Adoulin, we will first be adding /yell to the below areas:
- Town areas that are added in Seekers of Adoulin
- Aht Urhgan Whitegate
- Chocobo Circuit
After monitoring how the above expansion of the feature goes, we will be looking into adding it to San d’Oria, Bastok, Windurst, and other outlying towns.
Also, the development team is currently working on and testing expanding the range in which party invites can be sent. This will take a little bit more time to finalize, but we plan on implementing this after we expand the /yell feature.
Extending party invites in combination with a Nexus Cape would be awesome! Imagine how cool it would be to send someone an invite from 5 zones away and have them teleport immediately to you with a cape.
I'm not sure Adoulin and Whitegate make much sense. /yell is typically used for content only (or at least best) accessible from the Middle Lands, like Abyssea and Voidwatch. Unless you plan on also adding cruor-based teleporting NPCs to those areas, this won't accomplish /yell's objective of alleviating Jeuno congestion.
The Chocobo Circuit makes a bit more sense, but what keeps that area (which connects directly to all the major nations) from being the premier area for /shouting is a lack of an Auction House, which adding /yell won't fix.
I also just want to reiterate my opinion that /yell feels like a kludge regardless and we need a more elegant solution for recruiting party members.
They said expansion cities will share same chat channel as Jueno, right?
Yeah they have:

ITO: We plan to split the popularity between Adoulin and Jeuno, both of which will act as main cities. Adoulin will inherit all the functions previous cities had and provide easy access to and from Jeuno. Both cities will also share the same ‘Shout’ channel. [...]
It makes perfect sense actually.Quote:

What you listed isn't just Middle Lands' centered content. It's pretty much the only things the majority of the population does on a regular basis.(that people don't stick to statics to do, ie:NNI,Meebles) When they add new content, people are going to want to do that, on top of the Abyssea and Voidwatch that's already in place. Why should they miss out just because they're in the wrong zone?
I don't know about you, but I would rather not go back to the days where we had to make one party member go to Jeuno while I shouted in Whitegate to get a ToAU mission done.
Thank you SE. A very welcome change.
Should make /yell in the Chocobo Circuit be seen in Windurst, Bastok, San d'Oria, Jeuno and Whitegate and vice versa. Remove the bazaar tax and the circuit will be the zone that will attract everyone.
I want to understand how this will work.
Each area will have its "own" yell channel? Or will Yell work cross-area?
Will it be something like:
Yell 1: Ru'lude Gardens, Upper Jeuno, Lower Jeuno, Port Jeuno
Yell 2: Al Zhabi, Aht Urghan Whitegate
etc etc.
Or will it be something like:
Yell: Ru'lude Gardens, Upper Jeuno, Lower Jeuno, Port Jeuno, Al Zhabi, Aht Urghan Whitegate, Chocobo Circuit, ...
To further explain myself. If someone is shouting in Whitegate and I'm standing in Port Jeuno, will I be able to see what he is shouting?
I suppose I won't be able and things will be like in my example number one.
But if things are gonna be like example number two (which I seriously doubt) then I have no words to explain how incredibly awesome this would be :)
i think it will be
"Yell: Ru'lude Gardens, Upper Jeuno, Lower Jeuno, Port Jeuno, Al Zhabi, Aht Urghan Whitegate, Chocobo Circuit, ..."
Oh god. I'm just realizing. The annoying people in Jeuno will have the power to be annoying EVERYWHERE! Get your /blacklist add macro ready, for there will be no escape.
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/th...-interested%21 for city teleports :)
I personally would like the major three cities and the new city in the new expansion
Yells to all cities and give us the option to have separate chat windows tho.
To clarify, this expansion will make it so yells that can only be heard in Jeuno areas can also be heard in other locations. We will not be increasing the amount of chat channels.
We will be looking into the alliance invite range when we expand the invite distance for parties. When that time comes, we will let you know the details. :)
So I can, say, Shout in Port Jeuno and be "heard" in Aht Urghan Whitegate and Bastok Markets as well? (just an example).
If THAT is how you want to make things work then, sir, I am at a loss of words to express how much I am astonished by such a huge and awesome change :)
I mean... I can already do that with the shout page of FFXIAH or Guildworks, but being able to do it for everybody in-game will just be twice as good. People not interested in the spam will just be able to use the "Yell Filter" option, just like everybody does in every other MMO.
Wow, I approve of this.
Any positive change towards alleviating the lag in Jeuno is awesome.
looking how it looks listed, I believe that it'd be easy if you put it in all areas that you cannot use abilities that are field only (so cities, areas that you can't cast summons/summon pets, ect.).
Inside a city or town should be connected to yell. outside cities or towns have a seperate yell channel for each region.
If /yell could be available for all major Nations, it would be LOVELY to have a waypoint that connects all possible npc teleportation methods from that single waypoint. This way i can live in Windy.
