I get ya. Sorry for slightly derailing but for me personally the ideas are connected because I can't do a thing with extra room if I don't have more storage spaces for furniture.

Actually, you don't even need 3 mannequins anymore. 1 panetiere (65 storage) and 1 six-drawer almirah (or anything with 15 or more storage) would cap out storage space if you were really trying to mini-max space.
I like to keep other things around for lulzies though.
Thinking further on the situation I've come up with a list based on various this and that's! Why didn't I think of it before?
Item requirements for the mog houses should go something like this:
First step:
Storage maxed out, Moogle mentions that keeping all of your stuff in one place is becoming a hassle to keep clean and orderly. He suggests expanding your home to include extra space for your things! But he needs materials.
60 pieces of lumber
40 ingots
40 animal glue
Various tools
A sum of gil
:D
But I'll need help determining the further expansions and particular materials. What type of lumber and metal, plus what the requirements will be for say, two more phases, rank 6 and rank 10.
You'd have to trade your WHOLE MOG HOUSE to the trial moogle to get the stamp on it! @.@
What levels of each should be required? I know Lauan lumber is the low level stuff... So maybe like a 3/10 one the scale of ZOMG EXPENSIVE WOOD, same for ignots, maybe animal glue is fine for the random element. what's a suitable amount of gil...? 200k? 500k? ONE MEEL-EE-OHN GEEL?!?
Then the next sets. Higher tier lumber and ingots, and a new random element that could be used for house building sort of things, and a new amount of gil. C'mon folks! Hive mind with me! Brain storm! Intellectual orgy! Help meeee!
Naturally. o-o It's home expansion! Look earlier in the thread and you'll find furniture builders with lack of work to be done making furniture that shows up on the AH once in a blue moon and sells six months later on constant sale.
It'll also help metal workers and monster farmers and give the economy a kick in the pants or finally make you dust off your lumberjack hat. EITHER THAT, or SE might loosen up the daily supply amounts the guilds have of these supplies etc.
I still have to beat up people who are over charging ridiculously for gobby bag materials...

Something I threw together really quick... it's basically the current mog house adding two rooms on the left, and a staircase on the right... the stairs lead up to a loft which leads to a balcony (think of it as a Mog Penthouse)...
I think something like that would be neat.
Edit: Lots of added wall space... could probably get two items per wall in rooms A and B...
Didn't utilize the walls in the lower right hand corner because they may be obstructed by stairs... Maybe each room can have a targetable spot in a corner called "Mog Compartment" where you can store additional items.
Problem I see (perhaps not with the side rooms).
Perhaps instead of expanding to the side we could see expansion in the back of the rooms. Most places have fireplaces, Windy has the fountain. I do like that you took the window into consideration from the right side, but the stairs would impede normal floor space in the living area. Can you think of a work around? If the stairs went in the back of the room instead and say, spiraled one end of the room to the other to get to the loft in an arc, would that work perhaps?
The more ideas we have the better so let's get a bunch together!
Edit: Noticed the balcony idea. I like it! Actually having a view would be amazing. I honestly wonder how much work it would take to program this in... I mean, it would be generalized for each nation and all, so it might be easier that way, but still. If we over complicate things too much we're just making it more difficult to convince people.
EDIT edit: We should still poke a mod or Dev team member to scan through this forum.
So, we have the idea. We have growing concepts. We have a rough idea of what it might take. We have lots of people finding this forum and saying it would be great. Let's start pushing this idea a bit! There are mods flitting about here and there so why not find one and gently suggest finding this thread? Also, I can't imagine they pass by the suggestion boards without seeing it being bumped daily.. So if there is one hanging around pop in and give us your opinions and guidance!

The thread hungers for more input.

I would completely LOVE having a crafting room that is affected only by the furnishings in it. A garden room for pots as well. It is hard to keep gardening up when you are doing smithing and use the fire etc for that craft. A living room that could be decorated any way you wanted with no regard for elemental influences and a bedroom for decorative purposes as well. I dont want my bed in my living room. It is just too odd. I would not mind having elemental influence on those rooms but separate from crafting. That way you could put garden pots in the bedroom if they did not give a separate room for that.
Being able to sit or lay on the furniture would be wonderful as well.
I do not think any of this would be simple. After the whole server move debate it has been made clear that not much about the game is simple. These mog house changes would be great though and there are a lot of us that would really appreciate it.
You know what would be cool is to add a whole new craft to the game. Building Contractors/Interior Decorators. I just know that the old school kill everything in sight gamers might not like the concept but this game is great in that it adds so much depth to the civilization.
This would be one more great addition and a whole new direction of thought and skills.
i thaught it over, what about putting skins in front of fire place to sit on? like ram skin maybe or ice bear skin^^
and i did spend time in my mh just sitting there with friends and chat, and i would love to invite friends just to sit there, drink coffee, have some cake or cookies and talk about plans we making for doing nm or bcnm, rank fight or whatever^^
breau, alexander/bastok
p.s. everybody who wants to visit me is invited heartily^^
What id like more is an ls Mog house or room then one for myself. It was in the .HACK series and i kind of liked the idea even though it wasnt a real online game.
Breau, I really like the low level equip sharing idea! I was in a LS once that had the idea of a low level equip bank. He, Aurridaur, set up a character for that but I am not sure how it all turned out since, sadly, we are not friends anymore. How much easier to have as LS house to share certain items!
SE did play with an idea that could be core for that. Remember that party room in Whitegate? Maybe it could be the core for the LS mog but instanced with storage, etc for each LS.
I like the idea...but i'm thinking ps2 limitations sadly~
oh pft ps2 limits. lol.
Yes there is a party room or meeting room in Whitegate. Its close to the evil Cat lady who gives out missions.
You have to schedule a time for it. Inside you can buy party things like fireworks and food.
It has possibilites but I dont think it progressed past very basic.
A real house would be lovely. It would be great if we could expand it, maybe add a new big fountain in the middle. A second floor wouldn't hurt. I want to make my house somewhere my entire LS can come and relax when we're not adventuring!
I am thinking that what we want is to be able to have more use of private spaces for our own creativity and LS/friends. SE has done a lot with jobs and areas to exp in but now it is time to expand other aspects of the explorers life. We may not spend a lot of time in mogs now but why should we? What is there to draw us to it? Other than crafting and gardening.
smile thanks i´ll check whenever we are back, and i´ll invite everybody as soon i can to celebrate the good news that japan almost solved his probs, what being able to log in would mean, and that is the real thing we have to celebrate than:
people almost safe and situation nearly under control and on way back to normal, may god bless all of you
breau, alexander/bastok
I kind of want to cram a whole alliance into my MH now.
Guild Mog houses sound neato! But we are getting a bit off topic.
The primary purpose of this thread is one step at a time, and step one is getting a concept together for expanding personal mog houses first, then we could move on to new threads about LS mog houses!
So for the first magian trial, you'll have to obtain 30 rare/ex, non-stackable carpet fibers that are a 2% drop only off of Tiamat and in the end you get a new rug.
We're flying off target again! xD
But back on track, we still need to poke a mod! Someone with connections or clout to tell us if we're aiming the right direction and can offer advice!
There are a lot of aspects and possibilites for mog houses.
How many rooms?
How to deal with mog enhancements.
Inventory aspects.
What changes in how and what kind of furnishings.
Would some rooms have specific uses such as crafting, gardening etc.
Would all be accessible by friends?
Could a form of inventory be accessible by a community of friends/LS's.
Would all rooms have to have most of the center taken by moogle or some other reason we wouldnt be able to use all the room.
Could the rooms be 'painted'
Could rent a rooms be redecorated to more personalized Mog house styles?
Could we have windows or maybe a balcony?
Would each mog house be constructed the same or could they be more individualized?
Would the mog come free or would there be quests etc to expand to other rooms?
I just want a separate inventory of 80 (or quested up to 80) for furnishings in the mog house menu so I can put lots of pretty furniture in there.
Thank you for the excellent summary! Indeed there are a lot of factors to get involved with, and maybe even have drawn! Coming to a consensus on this makes things easier.
Also a fair point, but these days we have the mog satchel and sack to keep our items accessible even in far away places. Our Mog safe IS our home inventory for furniture, and our storage IS our closet.
But it raises a fair point... If my moogle can teleport home from my rent-a-room to tend to my plants, why can't he teleport back to get me things from my storage. =n=;;
