Looking at past Census results... Japanese Midnight is consistently the time with the highest number of logins. The time with the least logins is mid to late morning in Japan.

Wait, pause rage... Thinking about it a bit, if JP midnight is the peak login time, that also makes it the beginning of the decline, which typically leads to the JP morning nadir. So if they're aiming to work through the nadir, rather than start then, it makes a little more sense. Midnight is still early enough to be awake, waiting 2~3 hours for logins to drop off would result in a less alert maintenance crew, and if it goes long, be more likely to run into the lesser peaks of the spread out US primetime.

Ok, so Europe is mostly boned by circumstance, rather than ill intent. Cutting off right at, or just after the peak time is massively counter-intuitive, but there is sense to it.
i just dont care of you Kimble... IG or here...
Constructive post np, post for you say i lie or other , dont need it...
I look for see if others Ppls share my think and more got SE ppls who give me respons, and not shit excuses : technitian work only on night on JP... i want SE take 1 official position on this...
You should prob post in the EU forums then if this is an EU issue, Further more, there are french forums there so you can speak in your native language so what you are trying to say is easier to read and makes more sense.
Yeah, it's kind of bullshit to complain about this after seeing the census. Doing it in JP primetime would piss a lot more people off than EU (lol, that dip) or NA (pitiful hump) primetimes. I don't like being locked out either, but they're obviously aiming to piss off as little of their playerbase as possible when they schedule maintenance. You want maintenance to be JP time, recruit some friends in Europe and boost EU primetime.
Anyone know what the e-maint was for today?
It is business tactics to schedule server maintanance (or any maintanance that requires nework outage) for the time that least affects the running of the business, example if you work as a network technician or engineer for a UK bank, you arent going to take the network offline for 5hr maintanance at 1pm because it causes the bank to millions of £, $, euros, yen w/e currency you use each hr, you therefore schedule the 5hr maintanace for night time when it will have a small effect on the running of the network.
FFXI is differant though, they cant schedule maintanance when no one is using the servers, so they look at thier records and check what time the least people play which is EU prime time, then if all the EU player rage quit over it theres less effect on SE than if all the JP players rage quit if maint was in JP prime time.
Most EU players don't really mind that much about it.
I think that they should just stop maintenance for good, it always takes time out of someone's paid play, somewhere.
Really though, it may seem biased but if you think hard enough about it, it's really not. And by the way, you should probably cool down before typing next time (@ OP), it makes people's eyes hurt when you smash keys like that ; ;
Sorry for not readng through all of this.
I think SE should like check thier own Census now and acording to that they do every Maintance during a prime Period for EU/NA while the proper times with less loging would be JP.
Sorry again if this was mentioned before. But its kinda bugging me. As thou honestly..... its not a big Deal.
Its great how the people who are never effected by this and coming on saying whats the big deal, i bet half these people will be on here moaning if some thing in game happened that affected their game play.
It doesnt matter when Maintenance is done because its going to affect someone so there is no point in crying about it. Take the time off to do some house work, read a book, watch a movie, whatever. If its the end of the world to you because you cant play a game for a few hours, you need some help.
I do have to say I agree with this somewhat. Here in the U.K, maintenance always hits from 17:00 - 22:00 which effectively denies a whole days play, for those who play in the evening. Often, when one maintenance occurs, an "emergency" one happens within a few days to fix all the bugs discovered once the previous update went live.
We seem to get maintenance at least every month, with the often second installment a few days after. This might not seem like much, but adding this up at 2 per month = 24 per year, roughly translated to 11/12 months playable for 12 payments. SE were very quick to refund us all a whole month when unforseen circumstances knocked the game out for 10 days, but we miss out a lot more than that simply due to our timezone.
I fully understand that SE's largest playerbase is in Japan, but it would be nice if they would play fair occasionally. Why not start maintenance at 06:00 Japan time sometimes, then maybe 09:00 or 12:00.
That would affect other parts of the world as well, but would at least not Always deny play for the exact same group of players.
Its business. Who do you upset? The Majority or the Minority when clearly no matter what, someone is going to be upset.
The most annoying thing about the maintenance is that SE will not even comment on this or even accept our concerns. I also know from experience on other mmorpg that no community rep will comment on this thread as they know that any comment will only add fuel to the fire and many of us will not accept their comments trying to pawn us off anyway.
So we rage here even though we know its useless.
I think the people pulling this argument out of somewhere are simply blind. The census shows extremely clearly that maintenance happens at the busiest time of all (JP midnight, all JPs are still online, NA noon, they're just waking up or the students are online, EU prime time, all EU events). Also note that those are just the highest login times, meaning they actually stay online a bit longer than it says on the diagram, so the whole thing should be effectively right-shifted. Just by doing it three hours later would be a lot better to reduce overall loss of play-time and it would benefit all the major timezones, except for those poor souls logging in from the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Is that suppose to a personal attack just because I dont agree with what you are saying?
I don't think people really do that much anymore, people hang around port for many reasons. Showing off easy to get gear is rarely one of those :/Quote:
not for show my gears
I just like how Pirate kitty looks :(
As Im sure most of the working people would love to have no system to work on during their working day, Im not sure any business would have a server up and running when their people were asleep only to have it taken offline when they all showed up to work. Its not about which countries turn is it, its basic economics. Business managers dont pay people to sit idle.
SE official respons can have it?
I'm from europe and I don't fucking care. Is FF11 the only game you play or something? Just do something else.
Im EU too. Please make all maintenance in EU times and reduce EU fees for the inconvenience of having maintenance in our time zone. Personally I accept it has to be in EU time zone because of the time zone difference.
Its not a lot of an inconvenience really. And yes i'm EU. BUT i would like to see some compensation for it too!
Make it so that everyone wants the maintance on their timeframe! XD I'd love to see that :P
Gimme like a 'Maintace Robe' that has 'Under Construction' written on it lol would make up for it lmao!
SE repons can have it?? or SE policy is not to respond to this delicate subject??
Don't do to this what people did to the relic thread.
They will respond if they have anything to tell you, if not, you just look annoying and more likely they will not respond to you.
I'm EU aswell. Although it's slightly annoying sometimes that the maintenance is always scheduled late afternoon/early evening for me, it's certainly not annoying enough for me to whine about it on this forum. SE have their reasons for scheduling these maintenances when they do, I honestly don't even care what those reasons are.
To the OP: pestering them for a response to this thread, just makes you look bad.
You know, maintenance disrupts others also.
It is summer vacation for college students now, and I still have to deal with maint. when it occurs.
But you know what I do? I finish reading a book, start a new one, play a different game for a while, do some housework, whatever to keep me busy.
Complaining about maintenance is a sign of dependency towards this game. You shouldn't let this game rule your life like this. Unplug every once in a while and discover the world around you.
Because next year, the world is going to change, for the better, and for the worst. I'm not talking about that whole "Mayan Calendar" BS that seems to be spooking everyone now, I'm talking about the new accounting rules that are going to take place that will cause both frauds in the international markets and stronger businesses in both international and American markets (see what happens when you unplug? You get to see what is going to happen in the future and become more knowledgeable in your own personal field of expertise).
