I don't think the waiting for spells to acclimate is unfair, and normally it's not a pain; but we should be able to monitor that period

I don't mean it in a disparaging way, but really? You shouldn't be setting spells mid-fight often if at all, especially now that we only have one spell per element to use for greyellow procs. If you don't have the patience to wait one minute, then you don't have the patience to play most of the timesink that this game is. I'd rather see an improved physical potency thing, or recast on Efflux, for example. If there's nothing else that can be implemented? Then sure, go with spell set cooldown. But besides that, it seems silly to waste a slot for a potentially useful ability/recast/whatever.
On topic: I would love to see those recast timers. I'm patient, but sometimes it's nice to know just how much longer I have to be patient. XD
I have to agree Kensagaku, why would anyone want to merit at 99 into spell cool down timers..... That is just so pointless, now if there were merits for Efflux in damage and recast timers, that would be sweet, and I would do it in a heart beat. Also I did propose an idea to introduce a JA that acts like MNK's formless strikes, but works on our physical magic to make the damage magical. This would give a lot of utility to BLU's in the front, and allow us to deal massive damage (since most of our best gear is for physical magic) with out feeding fat TP. There are many ideas out there for JA's for BLU and merits that it should get at 99... And this seems like a complete waist and a cop out. I would definitely view this as a pointless merit.
well i was going to agree but then i remember we can /dnc and heal, or /nin and be very careful to keep up shadows! but being able to reduce the time you must wait to cast after setting would definitely be a worthy merit at 99 (well maybe). to be able to change spells while soloing is the main factor of this. not just when ur sitting around procing yellow. and remember this would only be 1 possible merit (you cant merit ALL possibilities to their fullest) and many jobs have seemingly useless merits.
your formless strikes idea just eliminates the difficulty to playing blu. it says you dont need half of your spells cuz you'd rather spam spam spam. (besides not much is weak to magic anyways, typically reverse)
As we mentioned in another thread, a 3min JA that allows you to use a spell not set in your spell list is perfect. i could careless on the recast of spell setting. If you're near a zone, you can rezone to get your timer reset to zero.
I still don't see the point, as a BLU you prep ahead of time and you go in thinking smart... You don't go into a fight going ballz to the wallz or you get blown away. Its the basic tactics of a BLU to always think ahead. Now if SE actually gave us macros for spells, I would say, yes it would be a worthy merit so this way you could flop on the fly. Yet unless your going to risk blinding and temporarily immobilizing yourself with that damn menu when you could be preserving yourself, so that you can scan through your fat list of spells to find the one you desire. It would be a pointless merit still. Now the JA..... maybe, I would be curious about that, and if you can direct me to this thread, I would love to give it a good read. Although a 3 min JA for only 1 spell.... idk that seems kinda pointless like maybe 1 min or 1min and 30 for a single spell use. 3 mins doesn't sound practical for a single spell.... That wouldn't even come in hand in a pinch tbh. Now if it were for a certain duration, cool. But a 3 min JA for a single spell.... idk.
Actually it would be very useful Scuro, think about the times you could use a good dispel, or a good sleep in a pinch without having to set it. I know I'm guilty of ignoring Blank Gaze from time to time.
