I'm going to wait for some one to post an actual reason to not allow skill ups in campaign other than "you can do it somewhere else".

not saying they shouldn't be allowed in campaingn.. I've lobbied for it several times over the past couple years in other channels.
The OP started out with complaining about how slow skilling up is, which needed to be countered because it's not entirely true. Reread the first paragraph again:
This was coutnered directly by the need to adjust the traditional method for skilling up. So many are used to targeting the tougher mobs, and are neglecting to pursue the DC tweak. If you do it right, you skill up considerably faster then you ever did in the skillup parties we used to form in the past. Case in point, I was bwtween 89/90 caps on my staff last weekend. Was doing a trial and needed 5 Arcana to finish, so I hit monitors in Grauberg (DC btw) and got 1.5 in skillups in 5 mobs. Went back there last night to kick off a crab trial (again, mobs were checking DC to T). By the third crab, I had gotten a full point to cap staff--that crab was a DC and I got a .5 and .1 back-to-back to cap it.Quote:
Skilling up is one of my main pet peeves currently, it's boring and really really slow. Depending on the job, it gets even more annoying a prospect, I know you can skillup in Aby but sometimes it's nice to have stuff to do outside of that or you don't want to feel like your on a time limit.
I'm aware of that as I'm sure about 90% of the playerbase is. Abyssea Altepa mandys is how I capped my evasion in under a hour. Doesn't really have much to do with adding skill ups to campaign though, regardless of how op put it.
Can my 90 BLM skill up Enfeebling and Dark Magic on Fortalices as well?
And to what lvl can I skill up on Fortalices?
As I am sure you are aware, a BLM before Aby was not welcome in most XP PTs above 55 and had to resort to BLM burn PTs that were usually lvl synced, therefore my Enfeebling and Dark Magic is sitting around 250 atm, with cap being around 315.
I want to say yes. I've never bothered trying magic on them. In the case that it doesn't, Hpemde mobs in Sea (goldfish) will not attack you as long as you only cast non-damaging spells on them. So, you'll be able to cap these skills just casting Slow, Paralyze, Stun, and Aspir on them repeatedly. You wouldn't be able to afk (in vanilla ffxi) but that wouldn't have been an option on fortalices anyways since you're casting spells.
Alternatively, sub Scholar in Abyssea to auto-cap your skills at a decent level and simply EXP on Blm while enfeebing and Bio/Stun/Drain/Aspir'ing all the mobs until you're capped.
The new high level mobs in dungeons are great to skill up on and many of them are close to the cities so you don't have far to go.
I still want skill ups in campaign. Campaign was one of my all time favorite activities. I would still like to xp there sometimes. However, I would fall into the same trap I did with SMN Pre-Abyssea. Sure you could level character but skills were so far behind.
I agree, I want to see skillups in Campaign. Why should you be allowed to skillup doing bastion but not campaign?. I Like Campaign battles, i would also like to be able to skillup there. Its an incentive for people to give abyssea a break and bring down some of the overpopulation the areas there generate. I understand there are other more productive ways to skillup should i want to, Soloing can be boring and not what MMO's are about, sometimes you just want the fun and excitment of Campaign battles while your trudging through the 60-75 level range, why should i be put off leveling in campaign because i know im gonna gimp my skills an have to spend the same amount of time i did in campaign getting skillups elsewhere.
The day S.E stop crapping on Campaign like its the bastard child they never wanted will be the day im a very happy boy.
The problem with the skill up is that you getting level up much faster than it use to be, and for this resion skill up is not able to catch up till you hit your cap, and when you hit your cap you stop exping, and so the skill up slows down unless you going out to skill up.
0.o someone actually got a skillup in Bastion? I never saw that happen myself, lucky |Bastard Sword|... lol.
BTW... Grounds of Valor. There are some interesting ways to increase your skillup rates there through rewards.....
