What I suggest is getting the "Weaponskill Path" Weapon from the Trials of the Magian. It has a decent base damage and as you skill up your scythe skill (or GS skill for that matter), you would also be able to work on a better Scythe as you go. So, start out with a Reckoning and after completing 6 Trials, you got yourself a Reckoning +2 with 10% added dmg to any Scythe WS. It's an excellent scythe to be using in the interim if you're going for anything better.
yep, problem is skill, pure and simple. gear is nice, but it means precisely squat if you aren't hitting/hitting for 0. Atma/abyssite will help... in aby, but you REALLY need to get those numbers up. You'll see a world of difference when your weapon's skill is 300+. u said you were working on dark "paper", I'll assume you meant seals so you know that already. Spam stalwart tonics in Aby, they'll help connect, a bit at least. Beseiged is your friend, too.

hell im there right now skillin nin from 58 (where i leeched on a ls ki box farm, i got desperate for levels ;_; ) to 73
lol, and more lol, did u actually was serious posting this, i am sorry to say, but what would you expect?, for real, you just basically was there doing nothing....... dude even if you have THE gear you would still be worthless as a 90 lvl....
skill up is the answer you are looking for
just skill ups, its all you need, after it, try get some atmas (if you are inside abyss), equipment, and the subjob choice is situational, really one or two days skilling up can do the trick, ^^
