They are different systems, and most complained about that requirement so they probably wont make the same mistake.

A lot of mmorpg players like progression systems, so they added a new one. They added one with no stress to actually complete and some people still complain..
That's true for now, but future content will factor ML in.
FFXI players have been grinding for decades. It's honestly kind of hilarious to see someone say "imma play a different game cuz too much grind" at this point.Quote:

Every MMO, including XIV, has its share of grinding.
So worry about it then. By the time it became a "requirement" for you to max out job points, they had added a ton of features to make it easier. Capacity point bonuses out the wazoo, rings that boosted capacity point gains, and double capacity point campaigns. The grind we are seeing right now with exemplar points is essentially the "early adopter penalty" in which things are often more expensive when they are newer. Early adopters know this and don't really care. Most people just wait for the price to come down.
