[Dev 1006] Abyssea Adjustment

Even if you make Gukumatz a popped NM, he will be extremely highly contested and it will just create the exact same result, except there will more time wasted in that you actually need a pop item (and everyone will be farming the Maritime Peiste). The only feasible way out of the problem is to put it on multiple NMs or put it in gold pyxides.

It doesn't eliminate the problem if a lot of people are "cleaving" mobs, due to the chest per zone limit. But it needs something to be fixed. +2 upgrade items aren't what's causing the problem; it's the NMs that drop Empyrian weapon upgrade items.

While the current situation is frustrating and the merge will heighten this tension, the suggestions you're offering do not help. All it will do is increase competition for Sobek or whatever other NM. Part of the reason there is so little competition for these NMs is that not everyone has a pop item.

Think about it this way. Lets say we have 5 groups competing in a tournament. Normally, you could have multiple brackets where teams eliminate each other. At some point, you get two teams that compete and one emerges victorious from that fight. As it currently stands, all five "Abyssea teams" are consistently fighting in the semi-finals. By eliminating the semi-final round, you simply escalate the number of competitors at the last round. In other words, you haven't changed the level of competition, you've simply displaced where the competition is held.

It should be clear that if you want to reduce competition, you need to cut down the hierarchy and make it so multiple victors can emerge. How can you do that? Offer more ways to obtain Empyrean items via different NMs.

That would work too, anything to stop this insanity in abyssea-miseraux!

SE you need to do something about this situation, almost 1/10th the server camping 1 nm at any given time is just plain crazy. and its namely Gukumatz the compitition for all the other nm's has died down somewhat.

I disagree. Briareas was just as camped as Sobek was when doing my trial. Due to the force pop nature of all the nm's - I found it was a much cleaner atmosphere as most groups ended up alternating pops until one group was done. Sure you will get the few arrogant linkshells that pop under your nose etc, and this may be different on your servers but most of the time if there are 2x groups farming one NM, they will alternate pops.

Gukumatz is chaos. Trying to outclaim him as a lowman group (Myself, a Thf and a Whm) against the 2-3x linkshells in the area is a nightmare. It gets messy, people get aggrovated and don't work together on this.

I recently finished Cirein-croins for my 85 masamune... I cannot even begin to describe the anxiety levels I experienced trying to get Heqet pops, with there almost always being 2-3 other groups out there camping him.... It's not like groups are going to let you take turns getting key items for an nm they have to wait 10-15min for each time....

About 1/2 way into my trial I was ready to simply /toss my masa and give up on it completely! Was doing it lowman, and as others have said, trying to compete with full alliances is far from enjoyable. In fact, one time i went to get some pops there was this HUGE jp ls that had (from what i counted) over 25 people basically monopolising cep-kamuy and heqet. After 3hrs of trying to compete i only managed a single heqet KI, so i simply /ragequit for the day and went to bed.

The fact that people are now giving nicknames like Gukumatz's Aery and Heqet's Dominion really shows how badly these nms are camped... pretty much like HNMs are.

I know there isnt necessarily an easy fix for this (gold box KI farming can be equally futile and frustrating at times and as someone said, multiple pops or making them ??? pops will just make it so that bigger ls can monopolise even further) but I am really dreading starting another empyrean weapon -ESPECIALLY- with the merge coming up and "pretty much the only thing the people from the source server keep asking on other forums is "so how camped are the emp wep nms?" JOY

I think all NMs that are used to spawn mobs like Sobek should be forced spawn and have more then 1 spawn point, that way people farming seals can get it, people farming emps can get it. whatever. SE has to adjust this right away and its their fault for not doing something about this sooner. Frustration over NMs and NM competition is one of the things people hate about ffxi
