Dreadful fishing skill, won't it ever improve?

Fishing's been around forever and you're just now noticing how long it takes to skill up? It used to be way worse... there is gear that will help with skill up rates. There's way more fish to choose from nowadays. I don't even know what 400 fishing means... 4 characters?

I will have to admit, the fishing skill up rate was pretty crappy. But lately, I've been getting decent skill ups. I think SE has decided to making fishing skill ups more reasonable. It was rather ridiculous. I think I got a total of around 3.5 skill ups today the entire fishing cycle. I think the most I usually got any given fishing day before was like 2 or 2.3. 3.5 is about a month to max and I'm sure it will be a lot more once I get to skill level 60 or 70 or 80. And to me, that's more reasonable than the 2 a day max (or roughly about that).
