I agree with both of you.
If its something like Neckchopper or Mycophile Cuffs, both great items for their level but rarely gotten anymore due to leveling speed and amount of time it can take to get them. They could use a nice boost to their drop rates, and in the case of the cuffs maybe even having the EX removed now. Doing something like this might help with having more low level gear on the AH as well, in case larger numbers of newer players does occur.
If it was an item like them, but intended for current endgame use, yes the drop rate or whatever method of obtainment used should be much lower. However, once they get bumped into nothing more than a stepping stone item, they should gradually become easier to obtain depending on how far they get away from the top of the gear ladder.
So really the drop rates for items should be based more on how permanent an item is, instead of just being set low and kept that way for the sake of time sinks. Moldavite earring is a good example of an older item I would not adjust its current drop rate on, because it is one of those more permanent items as only a handful of earrings that fill the same role and slot better.
Nah, you're just missing them while you're off doing whatever the taru equivilant of galavanting around is.
Those two are the only relevant shouts anymore. Too bad when they update R/M/Es after another decade, empyreans will be impossible to finish do to the inability to obtain any of the neccissary items.
Lol my Taru is usually parked in town all day with bazaar up. Lost motivation to do stuff so yeah that's why I'm in town most of the day.
Yesterday morning I saw a JP shouting for 3 hours VW 11/18.
3 hours. I took a shower, went out to eat, came back and still shouting.
Speaking of drops rates, I killed 22 Faffys. 0 Ridills, 9 sweet teas............. WTF SE.
