If I were to be completely honest, you only have 2 options. Of them, only one is realistic.

Bard, you aren't going to have anything but AH instruments, that is looked down upon.
Geomancer, a new job, you probably don't know much about, but the scrolls cost a lot of money, a couple mil, which isn't a huge amount, but it's a stumbling block.
Cor, the dice are maybe 500k for all relevant dice. Don't really need any amazing gun, AH will work fine. Cheap garbage bullets. QD cards. Etc.
Gear wise, eh, you can pretty much wear anything that you got, obviously, some is better than others, but, for relevant rolls, no gear really affects them, its more about your merits, (and af3+2 hands for duration).
** one thing, Luzaf's ring will make your life alot easier, I guess you could say it's a must have piece, it's not overtly difficult to obtain, but in the current state of the game... it may be impossible... just a note of worthwhile information.
