Sounds like it. Don't know why they decided to be so greedy for, though. Most FFxi players that are 360 customers are also Gold Live members. I used to be for the longest time, as well.

Actually main reason microsoft is brutal on mmos is because they got a 24hrs customer services. Most the people that on a xbox will call microsoft up to complain about billing issues and other stuff( one dude said they get like avg 1k calls peak hrs and 100 off peak just about internet connections not working on live.) and they do not get enough money from the companies to deal with it and none them can come up with a solution. I live in the area and have ran into a few microsoft employees at the bars and stuff. This what there saying with a few beers in them.

Its just the way Microsoft has been going with Xbox for awhile now. In my opinion they have been greedy for a long time with it. I mean we got a price raise in gold membership because they added features that I personally never really use. If anything they could have made a new level of membership and put all of the extra features on a "platinum" membership level. Besides that everything even worth being online for is taken away unless you pay for a membership, which can easily be half of your games actual content ripped away from you. Which is even better because PSN offers basically everything gold does, for free, then everything for their version of gold seems almost non-existent on Xbox.

I wont lie, I think Xbox will die before the gen after "Xbox 720" comes out if there is 1, simply because they are losing more and more exclusive games, and are pushing games like FFXIV, and PSO2 away, rejecting games that would give them more players.

Makes some sense, still seems bad though when they are shutting out an entire genre of gaming all together.

Yea does seem lame, but part of me thinks there working on a few deals with the free to play mmos (perfectworldgames), were we will be able to use microsoft points to pay as we deem fit. This fall i guess microsoft point are equal to the dollar on next update. That way they do not need to deal with to much issues. Plus now they got skype they can set up a intergrated voice chat system with live gold and skype in one for the pc games. Yet gold on xbox starting feel worthless they not giving anything good with it.

Actually xbox so far is this generation sega genesis dominating NA and parts of europe. With little support from japaneses games. I do not think that much doom and gloom like the past, I bet PSO2 will come to the xbox but problem is will sega support it right (dreamcast version of the game sold over million copys not including the millions hacked versions and still popular to this day, phantasy star universe does not count port of a last minute online add on) and as ff14 they be stupid not to bring it over to xbox , yea sony own rights or do they ? . If square want to make money in NA.

Well they said talks are still open with Microsoft about FF14 I think, not sure though, things could have changed. As for PSO2 I was going to say they couldn't do the same things they did with PSU or it wouldn't matter anyways, PSU was doomed when they stopped really giving anything to anyone outside of the JP servers and even then the game was way behind on events and some content, now the game is even being shutdown for NA meaning the end of MMOs I know of on 360 for now at least except FFXI.

as a long time 360 user you HAVE to be a gold user to enjoy anything on the 360. When ffxi was on the 360, they barely had anything that really needed gold. So gold was 100% optional. SE wanted a 360 release usable by silver. Microsoft ok'ed it. Then microsoft got into Apps etc more and more other stuff. Now a days you can't do much w/o gold.

heck microsoft signed up with cable companies and u can watch tv while using ur 360... or watch netflicks etc.
