Dark Knight - Why do we have Tactical Parry?

yes, I do think that DRK should have at least a B- in parrying =\ we ARE a Knight, so we should have the basic grasps of swordplay and whatnot(and no, i'm not referring to sword skill :p). with what has already been posted to improve DRK and the newly risen LolEntropy, DRK also needs some utility imo.

If DRK parried 20% as much paladin does then it would not be a problem, its a rather insulting increase.

Any of the following would have been better/acceptable:

Anything that doesn't cater to a Rank E skill, on a job that needs anything but this.

Random extra parrys for 2tp is worthless. With proper gear you already have a staged xhit, the 2tp does not change a thing.

Are you guys on the mind set that everything that should be added to DRK should be only to help in endgame content?

We are past the meripo WS spam pt's so that DPS argument i dont understand what with the amount of time you spend on the side lines while waiting to proc in abyssea and the retardedly easy things outside abyssea have become with the lvl caps increase.

So just because it doesn't lets get rid of it.. Lets get rid of all the jobs we don't need anymore while were at it.
I understand that there was no reason to give it to DRK when it had low skill
but please understand that it might not be designed to be used against endgame foes since Parry is also affected by the foes level and we should not be tanking those to begin with...

while that is true Rohelius, the problem with the trait is this: why did they even bother giving it to us our Parry is E rating we could have used almost any other trait and put it to better use. The trait itself lends strength to the argument that SE has no clue what they are doing when it comes to modifying DRK. hell with the amount of gear they give us with MAB why not just give us T1 MaB or something along those lines, hell we have higher elemental skill than RDMs lol

The trait is proof that when it comes to DRK SE is retarded.

Abyssea is dead content and was never meant for a DRK.

I main tank on DRK a lot in VW and don't think I have ever parried an attack. The other side of the game is fodder lvl mobs where that 2tp gain is even more uselss. It was a big slap in the face from SE.

Edit: what do you mean we shouldn't be tanking them? DRK was the premier HNM tank at 75 and still does quite well on endgame highlvl content. (when played correctly) If you are just standing around wait to proc, you should consider a job change.

How do you maintank on DRK? -phyDMG -magDMG sets? I tried using -phyDMG set and /mnk on drk a while back. Was not recieved well by my LS. And i gimped my dmg too much.

/sam or /nin works well for drk tanking. for /sam, just make sure to take off Seigan before casting Dread Spikes. Also having an apoc works wonders haha

now? i cant imagine drks can, we dont have the damage output to do so. but at 75, with an apoc.
