It would be fine if they added something different as an ability to do damage but ternary is just a complete flop from a functionality and usability standpoint. It's dissapointing to have these forums as a supposed outlet for player suggestion but when it comes down to it, if the devs write it down on paper it's a done deal. But to just say "Well we have an ability that does a double attack... Lets just continue with that!

People don't invite DNC because our only procs are things that other jobs do as well / better. If they made Steps or Waltzes proc, there would be a dnc at every event. As of now, the only thing we can proc well is dagger (thief will be there for TH anyways, so.....), and other support jobs (who support better than us) have procs as well. SE really messed up the proc system by not giving every job a unique yellow proc.

Okay so I just did some very preliminary testing on the test server - lvl 95 obviously with Daka +2 and Phurba, All AF3 +2 except the pants which I had tumbler trunks for a brief overview of gear - tried to stack on as much Dex as I could. Don't have Khaftan to test though I'm assuming that would just work in Climactic's favor anyway... Atma were RR, GH and Apoc.
Just from afew comparisons...
Ternary is garbage, even with Rudra's Storm. Climactic had consitantly high (3k-4k+) damage on scorps in abyssea-altep whereas Ternary's damage was all over the place from as low as 1.8k to 3k damage.
Why would you want to use an ability that has a minute extra recast time, needs (presumably) an upgraded peice to even have a chance to make it stronger than climactic on one weaponskill? Climactic lasts for more than one hit as well, meaning that a NFR between weaponskills can let you do a very strong darkness skillchain every other time you can use climactic. The only downside is that it uses all 5 flourishes but realistically if you need 2 FM's after you weaponskill you can just wait till you can step.
Maybe it needs to be tested outside of abyssea where you don't have quite as much crit damage bonus, but as of right now...
I'm sorry, but this ability needs to be scrapped and replaced with something, *anything* else. I don't care if the dev's have to start at square one - there are plenty of new ideas on these forums from any language that would be a better choice than continuing a line of multihit long recast combat flourishes.

I said it was a great DD, not the best DD.
SE already said no to splitting/reducing waltz timers so our main healing capabilities will remain laughable at best, I see DNC going the route of DD with light support/curing abilities.

Yup, had the same results with my tests. Really not happy with this ability, it is useless. I noticed that there wasn't much change at all between my present DNC 90 and the test server 95. I would prefer some new Sambas, or at least anything that will improve the job in the next 5 levels.
