I"m missing war, sam, drk, blm
I don't see the point of /thf for bst anymore. Yuly > /thf for farming.
I would say a perfectionist has all jobs up to support job level...

Yule is also expensive where as /thf is free. If it's plain old farming for mats or something, any random cheap pet will be fine, anything strong i totally agree with Yule + a correct sub over a gimp sub just for TH.
Wat she said works.
But also THF is a useful sub in large pet groups. Usually u just rotate 1-2 "tank" set up bsts to hold the monster. That leaves the rest to DD atma fodder pets for dmg. But the NMs are still to dangerous for players to melee on it. So with /thf and a regain atma u can eak out some extra dmg from bstmasters who otherwise would be standing around. And they still stay safe by using SA mistral axe since it have a 16.5 range. And the hate can be handled easily thru snarl on the pet.
If all you're doing is lvling bst still, then abyssea. Worry about the specifics after.
Myself, nin for nearly 90% of everything. Everything else, whm.
I like to show up late to forums, ignore everything everyone has alredy posted, post stuff thats alredy been said, and give bad advice.
I've been gone a while, so I couldn't add more to my initial reply, but based on your concerns, I think you want a cheap subjob that does a bit of everything to level for now, so that later you can level more expensive sub jobs. That would be Dancer, which unlike Ninja doesn't have an expensive Utsusemi scroll to get, and unlike any of the mage jobs, doesn't have any scrolls, or like any caster, doesn't have to skillup a magic skill to be effective. Basically, Dancer is your best sub if you want to avoid any of the excess work.
That made me laugh my ass off.
I'd throw in my 2 cents about subs but everything has already been said. But I will say this. Bst is a unique job that allows the player to chose the play style that works for them best. You can fight along side your pet or sit back and watch form a safe distance. Those choices are yours to make, there is no right or wrong choice just make sure you have fun
How does this abyssea leveling crap work? Everyone keeps telling me just do abyssea... I've tried finding info on this whole thing and I cant for the life of me even find out how to get into this. Let alone, find people who will let me join, assuming this is some kind of dynamis type thing? I have no idea... Can someone please tell me what I need to do to get into this apparently amazing form of leveling.
Hey Kinrohk, Glad to see you joining. An explanation about Abyssea and how you level in it.
Before you decide you are ready to level in there, you'll want at least one job at 75 (for the purpose of this it'll be BST) You'll also need access to the add-ons entailing Abyssea (Visions, Scars and Heroes of Abyssea). Lastly, you'll need to do a little reading and figure this stuff out. There is a metric ton of information regarding this and the best place to learn is http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Abyssea
This has a really good explanation of Abyssea. It takes a long time to get into this content. Something to consider though is as soon as you can start the quest chain to open Abyssea content, I STRONGLY suggest doing it up to the point where you begin accumulating Traverser stones. The reason for this is it takes 20 earth hours to get 1 Traverser Stone, and they are good for 30 minutes of Earth time inside Any Abyssea zone. If you open up the content at level 30 and let it accumulate while you work on Beastmaster to 75 in Grounds of Valor, you'll have plenty of stones to work with when you are finally ready!
For now, my suggestion to you is to do Beastmaster/Dancer and do Grounds of Valor content and Fields of Valor content. The best leveling system aside from Abyssea is Grounds of Valor. You can do this as any job, but you have to have survivability. The great thing about this system is you get Experience, Gil and Tabs and for every subsequent page you undertake WITHOUT leaving the zone increases the rewarded Exp by 4% up to a very large limit. Not to mention you get Field Prowess which is fancy talk for cool buffs that stack up! They last indefinitely, and can be anything from HP/MP+, Attack+, Curing Potency +, etc. etc.
Anyways, I hope this gives you guidance on Abyssea, Sub jobs and a good definitive path to follow. Good luck!
Sweet, thats what I was looking for. I've already been sitting in Gusgen, got BST to 36 so far. Just not sure when to leave, and I guess I wont even think about Abyssea for now. Was just confused because of everyone talking about it.
