It's 12pm I have been waiting all day for an update where is it?
Turn the game on SE please.
http://www.chatzy.com/144542738582 temp chatroom for those of you waiting on word from SE
Give us SOMETHING, PLEASE!!
chances of ffxi being back up tomorrow ZERO! but on the plus side ive bought wow and got lv29 in 4 days with 3 areas 100% complete
Would be nice if they would at least open POL and let us all chat there =P (fingers crossed)
Time 12:20 a.m. Just had a mental image of everyone in this time zone opening POL and trying to log in just to see if they could...lolz
Actually, that would be kinda cool, but I wonder if it's even possible. When the game is being patched, POL stays up, but when there's true downtime to deal with hardware or critical problems, everything is turned off. I'm not sure what exact connection there is to powering up some things with or without others. You'd have to ask ^^;
I kinda hope that those in charge of restoring server viability are sitting in their dark, cool rooms, rocking an old-school game of pong on a 240" screen... or that they translated some of these classy postings by self-centered miscreants... and by a feat of poor translation (a-la babelfish), believe that instead of ;_;<Save me square!>, they read a plea to keep the game down... so that poor players could have more time to finish their twelve-step programs and/or mainline some new-fangled drug called Canada.
Playing games is awesome. Playing a surrogate for life, which takes precedent in your mind/spirit/heart over people struggling to live their life, is not awesome. Too many of our brethren are in the grips of their Final Reality... and we're crying about Final Fantasy.
3:43pm and still no word :(
Well... some are closer to the situation, some aren't ...after all, life moves on. There is no point in standing still since we can't change it! We surely share the same feelings about what happend, but most of us are just too far away to bothered any further ~ sounds hard, but thats life, thats reality.
Even some japanese players are hoping that the game will come back soon ~ so they have the opportunity to lay back, chill and just have a few hours off from all the mess around them.
omg another self righteous *bleep* screamin of how they are somehow better people b/c they arent voicing they want to play this game as much of the rest of us.... lol... you are obviously checking forums... so honestly are u any different? i have said as little as possible ... im not one for virtual conflict... but damn man why hate on people that want to enjoy what they have for years ... you dont know why they enjoy it ... u dont know they dont have a life outside of ffxi ... so why make dumb presumptions ... this is a ffxi forum .. for people to voice content or discontent with game related issues... Why is that soooo hard for people to understand... i come to this forum to find usefull info and its filled by people crying about people crying... i just want an update ... or i want to read about a specific topic depending on the forum i select.... yet what i get is a heap of *bleep* like this ... lol okay ive said my piece... and i only picked ur post b/c it was the last one i came to .... take it for what it is ... deal wit it ;p
now on another note i hope we at least get an update soon ... def anxious to get back into the swing of things .. hope all is heading in the right direction SE... for game and country ^^
I respect your opinion, and understand that it's annoying to hear people "hating on haters" or whatever you want to classify it as. However, we're both doing the same thing. I am disappointed at people's reaction and valuation of a game... and express it. You are disappointed that I expressed myself. Both are whining about something. *shrug*. My point is that I would find great humor and irony in the bleeding-bung antics of some of the "addicts" further perpetuating their problems via a language barrier / translation.
That being said, I visit the forums for the same reason as you, and my opinions don't make me self-righteous... they make me somewhat cynical.
no def not the same thing .. and tbh simplify your opinions and u might not come off so much as i described.. enjoyment isnt an addiction its pleasure ... that in fact can be a number of things .. in this forum the "enjoyment is ffxi" ... lol im simply saying if u wanna bash people for the "addiction" as u so point it out do it somewhere else so i can hear the info i would, along with others, like to hear... not u preaching on/or making fun of people who state there game orientated opinons on a game orientated forum... do u understand what im trying to say? once again im not much for virtual confrontation so i will leave it at that ... i used you as an example ... just hoping people might get the sense to avoid bashing.. so im glad u feel all edumacated with the fancy ying yang ... but people want "enjoyment" back including myself and thats all the fella u blasted had in mind weather or not they voiced it correctly
furthermore odorf maybe the ... "You know your addicted when...." forum might be more appropriate for your opinions
Hello. The review session to restart services was held by the concerned parties this morning. The aggregate total of data dictacting how much power it would take to resume services is now being compiled and reviewed. We will let notify you when we match our findings with the current status of power supply (which is continuously being monitored/revised.Please give me a little more until a formal countermeasure is decided. My best regards.

667 is the 666th reply, as the inital post is #1. All depends on how you're looking at it I guess (posts vs. replies).
During the Temporary Suspension of the Services Due to an Earthquake , Can we change our race or names in the game ?
I would really like to... This will cheer other players too, because some people chossed a race without knowing the gameplay.
I took Hume race 5-6 years ago, and after few years from registerd in this game, I was hoping that we get an option to that once every 2-3 years. People like the change itself.
I think SE should let us do that when they operate the game.
Also SE isn't really going to lose anything when they let us change our race or names. They are just files...
I agree with Dantel, all thought it does sound like the the electric company in japan has a good plan to get the power going as i seen yesterday they will be around 80% at the end of April, but i do not think it is so important that we play our game if the people running it are having to sit in uncomfortable conditions. also over all wont the servers over heat without the AC? I really like the fact SE is willing to do this and i really with at the end of his post he would have been like and a lot of you people say we don't care. I guess that just isn't the Japanese way. I just hope that when the United States goes though something like this we have the ability to be as calm as the Japanese people. I truly have a unbelievable amount of respect of the people and how they are handling this situation. My work may be sending me over to help (I work for the government) and we they called me in there office yesterday and asked me i could say yes fast enough.
They've been really reluctant to allow such changes. Not sure just what their hangup is. Maybe I just got spoiled by the old Java/SQL camp I used to work for. It can get pretty complicated depending on the type of database and connectors being used. Regardless though, I would expect the GUID would be bound to either your POL ID or toon's name, so it should be easy enough to change it if that's the case. If they are using something like a SQL compliant engine, it SHOULD be a simple enough task--kind of a script that says basically where field xyz=old name update xyz=new name. But who knows just how they have the data laid out--they could be doing some funky view of an AS/400 style file/field layout that winds up complicating things more than need be, but was necessary for the speed.Quote:

I read that post.Thank you employees of Square Enix for this sacrifice,so we can play your wonderful game.It is greatly appreciated.I only wish the best for you, your families and your country,in this time of great hardship.
leave the game off till you can run everything at 100%
Why suffer more?
Yeah, regardless of their current comfortability; Square-Enix stock has plummeted during this past week. A lot of their investors need to see that the company is still going to be moving forward. They've already cancelled the production of "Gun Loco," a game which they've already sunk a considerable amount of time/money into. I'm sure they can't afford to keep putting servers down.
DUDE, deep respect for you guys! seriously :D lets /cheer for SQEX! :DQuote:
Operating the servers for these services makes up 11.6% of the total power consumed by our Tokyo office (based on February 2011 records). We have shut down our air conditioning system (8.8%) and enacted other power conservation measures, such as reducing lighting in our offices, to achieve over 10% in energy usage reductions. With these energy saving measures in place, we will be able to bring our servers back online and restore service to FINAL FANTASY XIV, FINAL FANTASY XI, and PlayOnline on Mar. 25, 2011 11:00 (GMT). All other services, such as those offered on the PlayOnline website, that were temporarily suspended will also be restored at the same time. Please be aware, however, that we may once again be required to suspend services in the event that the power situation worsens.
SE shut down air conditioning and adjusted their lighting to bring our games back.
I hope everyone appreciates this.
Thank you, SquareEnix.
