NVM, to far back.
Just a suggestion here to the developers, why not give jobs that are native rank A-,A,A+ a 10% WS bonus with the new merit WS. break it in to +2% increases every upgrade(1/5= 2%, 5/5=10% etc or heck go higher, maybe 20% WS bonus.)
That way jobs that can use multiple new merit WS(i.e WAR) dont get the bonus that say a drg would get for using "their" primary weapon. WAR would get a WS bonus to GA, DRG polearm, DRK scythe, etc etc,whm get stheir new awesome WS replacing a lv 60 WS, everyone is happy. the end.
when that inadvertently further boosts shoha?
/sigh ive been a sam for a long time now and i really dont know what to make of shoha as far as how i feel about it, its nice that its strong... but my linkshell helped me put together a masa, yeah doesnt take long i know but when you multiply the total people who were there for me by the amount of actual time spent, thats alot of man hours (or women, we do have a few)
anyways i digress point being, people are now going to bandwagon to sam again... meanwhile my masamune has lost some significance to my worth as a samurai. (with its ftp modifiers its back to the hagun days with GKT save now its called kantonotachi)
Masamune still has some use at least, probably not as much in VW, but there's nothing wrong with Fudo for AM then using shoha on high defense mobs (unless your white damage is pretty nil). For stuff like new Nyzul it will still be beneficial to have Masamune. Of course Kogarasumaru is best GK now.

So it was brought in line with the base crit rate of all other critical hit based WS and this is overkill. How do you figure that?
5% base crit rate would be overkill, this is just correcting a mistake.
I'm a THF, we've been the butt monkey of FFXI since the very beginning. THF will always be on the bottom no matter what so I'm not worried.
Watching WAR and MNK suffer however brings me great joy and it's totally worth the slim chance that SE might toss out a nerf to THF that really wouldn't change our lot in any meaningful way anyway.
So let me get this right, you are very happy that WAR and MNK got nerfed, while THF still gets nothing, and WAR and MNK are still a better DD than THF and still won't want thf for anything more then TH?
I mean, have fun being 100% useless in one of the bigger end game events.
Thats what is rubbing everyone else raw too. They scream balance then go off and make a WS for sam that is better then fudo. I was put off sam back at 75 after hitting 75 I was forced on to it for all endgame events even dyna. My blu and drg were better geared and merited, while sam was just a fun job to level 37 to 75. I don't want to see those days return. So I got the double whammy of getting forced on a under merited/geared job while looking and feeling like a bandwagon sam even though I didn't level the job for endgame or even meriting.
