Steps:

1. I was synthing Sole Sushi today at 3:00p EST.
2. One synth began just as the "You have undertaken the limited-time Records of Eminence challenge" announcement appeared.
3. My synth immediately failed without a crystal break animation, and said "Synthesis interrupted. You have lost the crystal and materials you were using."
4. The materials were indeed lost, but the crystal remained in my inventory. There was no log of which materials were lost either, that you would normally expect to see on a failed synth.
