New Users afoot

Hello, a friend and I took an interest in FFXI when the Seeker's expansion came out, we bought the Ultimate Collection.
We're still green, and we use the Xbox 360 versions, but we have a handle on how things work and the controls.
Currently We're just a Red Mage (Lv 22) and a Monk (Lv 25), but it was brought to our attention that if we want to progress any further, we would need help.

We're still unsure about several things:
- Creating Weapons/Armor
- 2nd Jobs
- Gil/Level Grinding

We're very inexperienced to MMOs, with me being the worst offender (my friend has little WoW experience), So yeah, any assistance would be great appreciated!

I'm new myself but for a subjob you need to go to Mhaura and speak to Vera or go to Selbina and speak to Isacio.

For Vera's quest you need a rarab tail from mighty rarabs, dhalmel saliva from bull dhamels, and a bloody robe from bogys.

For Isacio's you need a magicked skull from ghouls, damselfly worm from a damselfly, and a crab apron from Snippers.
