What is Treasure Hunter?

TH now procs, and is said to be a dice roll on the item like 0-9 if you get the right number it drops.

My questions are these:

Say with TH1 it rolls the right number, now does TH2-12 reroll it or does the item drop stay locked?

If thats the case why cant we view the rolls that TH supposely procs so we know when to stop or keep trying to proc TH? I think thief should have options to see these rolls.

I mean, maybe I dont grasp the idea of TH, but it just leaves alot of holes for misguided information, and rumors.

FFXI devolopment team, has never sat down with the players, and said alright this is how it works, this is how its use, and what not. You give us a vague idea of how it works, then you tell us now go figure ways to use it. This goes with most abilities. cough cough alexbrava nerf. I want to know more about Treasure Hunter!

That's the problem. Two things you got wrong, a) more rerolls don't mean that you won't get an item that you got in a previous roll, it can be understood as only re-rolling if you don't obtain it, and b) the chance of item obtainment is not decided while applying TH during the fight, only at the end the entire TH value is looked at and applied to increase the chance.

Tl;dr, no TH tier will ever reduce your chance to obtain an item.

So basically its at the end, and it rolls up to 12 dice and if one our of the 12 is right then you get the item?

Kinda, only rerolls don't go up to TH12. TH1 gives one reroll, TH2 gives 2 rerolls, anything higher than that increases drop rate by a much smaller amount.
