What do you love about this game in its current state?

Just wondering what people like about Final Fantasy XI as it is. I've been playing for a few years on various characters, and I know there's a big split between people who like Abyssea and those who don't.

Usually we see why people dislike the game, and people respond with how they think they're wrong. This time, quite simply, I'm interested to see why you like the game, as it is. I'll start:

-i love the tier based progression of Abyssea. Atma and Abyssites mean the more NMs you take on the stronger you are, and with seals, +2s, and empyreans, there's always a reason to take on an NM. For the moment whilst it is still popular, Abyssea is incredibly well structured, to me.

-Whilst I don't like what levelling has become I love that we are now level 99. There's almost too much stuff to do in this game, and given that it has been historically party focused, without the level increase you'd never get a chance to play the old story stuff without making things more solo or duoable.

I really like how the game has moved away from18+ people content for all the good gear. Maybe I should say I am glad I can now farm the gear I want without the need of an end game ls were I don't have to worry about being kicked from the ls if I can't tend events, can't get the good gear because I don't attend enough or because I just don't feel like going. I love how anything I want to do can be done in a pickup group VW included . I am now working in my 4th empyrean and still farming +2 without some ls leader telling me where I should be and when.

Along similar lines, I like that fun content is readily accessible now. Instead of spending the majority of my game time travelling, camping, waiting, etc., I can actually spend it battling. Abyssea started this with a structure that I agree was brilliant. SE has continued it with VW warps, modified HNM trigger conditions, and other game-time structure improvements. There are a few annoying time spawns in Abyssea that still provoke some aggravation but it's so minor compared to the past that I don't really complain about it.

I also love that activities are multi-purpose now. Instead of spending time just to farm and nothing else, or just to xp and nothing else, I can do single events that net decent xp, decent gil, decent skill ups and chances at item drops. Abyssea is this way as well as Dynamis, Besieged and Campaign (well minus the skill ups there - come on devs, you know you want to add that!). One trip of Dynamis alone I can make great gil, upgrade a relic piece, and grab a couple a may have missed before. VW fights are repetitive if you're really just concerned about the gear, but I've tried to stay sane by just enjoying the xp and cruor benefits along with the fact that it was easy to join, I fight cooler looking mobs worthy of my 99 levels rather than little pink birds, and I'm getting clearances for bigger battles ahead.

I was staggered after I finished a Wind magian staff trial a couple weeks ago on skeletons in Grauburg. Not only did the 250 kills go fast because of atma and buffs as usual, but I ended up capping a magic skill to boot. Normal stuff, I expected that. The great part was that in the same trial session I got a lucky flame gem drop for 2.5M gil, and a party spamming Azdaja offered me a few +2 items they didn't need. I hope SE continues to make events and areas in the new expansion with this kind of multi-benefit possibility.

Fun accessibility and ease, no need for 18 -36 people for shitty contents with crappy rewards. But we are talking about the 2010-2011 Golden Age of FFXI with Abysea and Neo Dynamis. Voidwatch is a hit and miss that need massive tweaks still. Legion is dead. Neo Nyzul needs cheat program, and probably the same goes to Neo anything. Now that the unmentionable is gone, retired, maybe they can bring Yoshi P from 14 to rejuvenate this game and put the FUN back.

What I like about the game. The Story, and Catgirls. Everything else is just a bonus.
