Getting locked when going into a Maw for Abyssea

So far, this has happened twice. I don't know why.

That isn't what I'm mad about.

My husband tried to call a GM about it. They refuse to answer his call with more than a generic message because it wasn't made on the account.

They said I needed to call it myself. If I could, I would have. I'm stuck. I can't do anything.

I don't want to disconnect because I'll lose screen shots on my XBOX :(

Why is it a GM couldn't just send my husband a tell and see what the character's name was and send me the tell? If I could have use chat support I would have. It's 4 am. They aren't open!

I am sorry to hear there's been trouble with the game locking up suddenly. Unfortunately it may be a minor technical issue which can be causing the problem. The thread was moved from In-Game Bugs to Technical Support. Hopefully everything will be resolved soon enough. Thank you for posting!

Now that I have found a temporary fix, I will share it.

I do not know if there are problems with PC or PS2 but the Xbox version of it did this. When I tried to re-enter the maw, I was frozen. I could still talk to my party members and that but I couldn't move, couldn't cancel out of it. My THF friend used Accomplice and it knocked me out and I was able to move. I tried to zone out and zone back in. When I got back to the maw, I had the same problem. My husband used Blood Rage and it knocked me out. The same thing happened with the Field Manual.

When I tried to log out or shutdown I got no countdown via the chat log. I logged out and logged back in. The problem persisted.

Shutting down and logging back in did fix the problem but kind of a pain.

So my husband and I are assuming I lost a temporary link to the game. Seems logical. But it didn't happen to my husband. He didn't get locked out. I'm on an ethernet cable and he is on wireless. But this isn't the first time something weird has happened like that. During a Fafhogg camp, half of our alliance d/ced right as it popped. I disconnected but my husband, sitting right next to me, did not. We were both on the ethernet cable. Maybe it's just my account, I don't know.

Like I said before, the real problem was a GM just wouldn't get back to me. If I had no party members or friends to knock me out of those menus, I would have needed to turn my XBOX off, losing any screen shots I had taken and screwing with my system. I really just wanted to speak to a real person who could tell me what was going on. I only just now got a return e-mail, 15 hours afterwards.

I don't know what it is about this game but around the Japanese prime time in Abyssea, we XBOX users start lagging and disconnecting. There can be 80 people in a zone. Replace twenty of them with Japanese players and add about five and we start to lag and disconnect. It happens to me, my husband and most of my friends playing on XBOX. On top of that, my brand new XBOX has been making loud noises and having trouble reading disks after a few freezes like that.

Is there a reason this keeps happening? I rarely froze on my PC when I played and the PS2 only froze once or twice, if that. I could leave that thing on for weeks, months, and it would run perfectly. Of course after the whole mess-up with the update I stopped using the PS2 (I think that was SE's plan, afterall...).

But, like I said in my e-mail... not being reassured of the cause of the problem while I was stressing out about it made me feel like SE doesn't care about my business, account or money... The comfort of another person telling me it was a temporary problem and could be easily fixed would have made me feel a lot better. After the long, annoying process of reactivating my account (again...) because it keeps canceling. There's money on the credit card but it canceled. I suppose my husband's account always goes through because it's so much older than mine. So I ended up dishing out $30+ in Crysta (or whatever it's called, don't care) right up front. I just wanted to talk to an actual person instead of being fed the same message over and over again.

....Is it just me or has SE given us 11 players the big finger and gone to spend all their love on 14?

Nevermind the fact that XIV is currently free play - A similar issue happens to playstation 2/3 users (hence why they had to adjust it) with the Outpost warp NPC in Northern San'D Oria. Many issues in the game of this variety happen on the console versions, and have led to many people either quitting because they refuse to be addressed / or just swap to PC entirely. I can honestly tell you, after playing XI on a PS3, and a 360, I never had that happen to me using a Cavernous Maw (either variety in any zone.)

We can offer a few suggestions if you are experiencing any of the following:
• Have difficulty connecting to or staying connected to the PlayOnline Viewer or FINAL FANTASY XI
• Crash, receive a black screen error, or get stuck at the downloading data screen upon clicking your character handle or character select button
• See your the lag meter turn red
• Encounter increased lag or connection problems near crowed areas
• Have trouble accessing specific zone(s)
• Have trouble logging in with specific character(s)
• Receive any of these errors: 3113, 3100, 4001, 1160

Suggestions:
1. Check to make sure you have properly configured or turned off any of the following: Routers, Proxy Servers, NAT Servers, Internet Connection Sharing services.
2. If you are using any kind of software/hardware Internet Sharing service/device the following ports need INCOMING access to your PC: TCP 1024 - 65535, UDP 53, and 50000 - 65535. Also, check to make sure that the ports mentioned are not blocked by your ISP for INCOMING access. Proper configuration of any of the above items mentioned should be done by following the instructions in the software/hardware manual or calling the manufacturer's technical support.
3. If you are using a router, and have configured that router for port forwarding, temporarily bypass that router and connect directly to the modem.

Please take note of the following:
• Proxy servers, and satellite connections are not supported and do not work correctly with FINAL FANTASY XI.
• Your router may require that you use a PC to configure your network settings. For more information about how to configure your network settings, please refer to the instruction manual that came with your router or contact the manufacturer directly.
• If your Internet Service Provider (ISP) specifies a DNS server, you need to make sure to configure your settings to allow packets to pass through UDP Port 53 as well. For more information, please refer to the instruction manual for your router or the information provided by your ISP.
