While transferring my ID, I noticed in the fees box, my initial character was now being charged for $1, when it used to be free as part of my FFXI initial character/account. It may be just a dollar but not cool to see them sneaking that in there.

This is usually a temporary charge just to see if the card is valid, it shouldn't end up on your bill (I know clickandbuy does this)
If you want to know how I know.. I posted this in another thread:
As I stated in another in another thread and someone can correct me if I'm wrong. Clickandbuy charges a 3.9 % fee to every transaction.
and for something I do know personally. I did not know about clickandbuy when I set it up for FFXIV and when they temporarily charged me $1.00 (which is normal) my credit card security dept went crazy. Froze my credit card, got an automated call to find out if I authorized the charge. Then like an hour later a person from the credit card called me to ask if I knew what I was getting into. Said that they would probably freeze the card every time.
They're just making it easier to see how much each account is worth.. Your Playonline account is now $1 less, am I right? There's no extra fees, just making each content ID worth something, instead of the first free.
at the bottom was total fee to be charged every month, it totaled $21.95. $11.95 for ffxi, $10 for 10 characters (including my first and previously free character)
[edit] disregard see my post below, it's the same just worded differently.
I just checked as far back as Jan 2008 and my account with one char was 12.95. Are you saying that this changed? or just the way it is written is changed.. I'm so confused!
perhaps they changed the way it is written? I'm Canadian so my costs on my CC statement are different every month but on account it is listed in US dollars on ffxi, they never had my main character listed in the fees before. you could be correct, maybe they just changed the way it is broken down.
:) thank you
This is incorrect. It was $12.95/month, first character included. Now it's $11.95 / month, first character not included.Quote:
I didn't notice before, but yep I think the OP is right. It used to be $11.95 for the first char and a $1 for each character after.
The overall price for a single character is still the same.
If you read the official news on the subject, they specifically state the total cost is $12.95 / 30 days when it was 12.95/month before. The amount you are being charged each time will not change.
