Unkai Kote +1/2 question

for the "Enhances Sekkanoki" effect any one know if the kote need be equipped through out the execution or if it can be hot swapped like meditate gear?

Need to keep on during the WS.

Thankfully it's a good WS piece anyway as it has a rather hefty STR bonus.
