I was on Cait Sith and now Ragnorak after the server merge and I will say, it is aweful, just plain awful. becoming near impossible to do much as there are too many players in favoured locations doing NMs, quests etc and even many in what we used to class as unfavoured. Abyssea is one, myselfs and me used to be able to do anything most times, now groups upon groups of people waiting and wasting countless hours of time in there for nothing. Something needs to be done, faster pop times or divide the server, not sure what is exactly possible.

This is a moan yes but anyone agreeing or disagree give your fair and constructivem view.

Thank you

A very annoyed long time player

Coming from a very low population sever like ramuh before we merged with Bahamut I can understand your frustrations. Especially in regards to seal or empy farming. Usually my group will head to do another task if their is a solid group(s) farming what we came there for. Honestly though I feel it is a fantastic trade off. The occasional congestion is acceptable to me to have people around again. Ramuh had become a virtual ghost town, and while that might appeal to the "down with linkshell's! Mnk, and a Whm can duo Abyssea Durr Hurr" crowd it's not what I want from the game. FFXI was meant to be an interactive game between players not a "I can solo/duo everything" and the only time I interact with players is when fighting for camps mentality.

I think your problem tho will work itself out with regards to ever camped areas. As people complete empy's, and get their gear +2'd the congestion should begin to abate. I see signs of this on my server over the past month or so. Hang in there :)

Unfortunately, our server HAD sloped off on the congestion b/c so many had finished their primary AF3's....now we've got a whole new crew doing it. They've been kind of 50/50 on the |Team Up?| factor, but I think that's mostly been a lanquage barrier. It was tricky enough trying to negotiate with the JP playerbase before, but now we have a high concentration of French too. Makes for a bit of a challenge with the communication sometimes. Would have been nice if they could have somehow made the mergers balance out things a little more on regional lines....oh well.

Perhaps he's new and knows nothing of congestion. Also...

It depends on what you are doing. The merge was great for finding help with missions. I couldn't find anyone to fight Durinn with before the merge, during the time I play. After the merge I found a party pretty quickly. I'm making some more progress on missions, and a mercenary LS came over. I'm having a great time, but I'm not trying to do endgame, just leveling and missions.

I was on Unicorn and now Fenrir and the vast majority of the people on Fenrir are rude. They don't know how to play, don't know how to craft items and sometimes straight up beg for stuff that some "i have 15 lvl 90's" hand-me-downs. I liked it better when my LS could say "hey, we're going to farm Sobek skins this weekend" and NOT have 100 people waiting for 1 NM to spawn(refering to Guk). People actually camp ON TOP of NM spawn points killing monsters making it that much harder to pop a NM i need a KI drop from. You also didn't have 10 alliances in Abyssea-Altepa trying to do the Sand Sweeper Dom Ops. I like the predictability of a more "end game" type server than 1 full of fairly "new" players that have no idea how to play their jobs because they got to lvl 30 and did Sand Sweepers to lvl 90.

I would rather go back and be the only player on Unicorn and be happy than be on Fenrir with over 1,000 players in Port Jeuno. Congestion is so bad, my R will go up above 3,000 while in the zone and my frame rate drops down to 3 or 4. Not to mention the overcamped NMs like Guk. I had a THF today claim Guk and he soloed him but didn't get KI just to claim him again 10 mins later and again, no KI. The spawn conditions for a lot of the NMs need to change if the congestion and overcamping isn't fixed. All the Peiste's that spawn next to Guk should be able to give the KI for Sobek or at least drop a gold chest that has the KI in it. SE thought they fixed the congestion problem but they haven't and it needs to be addressed either my moving people back to their original servers or by doing the extreme and making a 2ndary zone if the amount of people gets above, say, 150 people in the zone(like what Guild Wars and Hellgate: London had).

In case you missed it, those KI's are in gold chests now.
