View Full Version : [to devs] What do you consider feedback worth discussing?

There are many threads over all boards with people giving their opinions on the game. Do you read all/most of them? And if so, how do you consider if you should take this up with the dev team?

Many people want adjustments to the game but feel like they voices aren't heard. (take a look in DRK forums). Would it be possible to increase the frequency of feedback to cover most/all ideas posted on these forums?

Thank you

I think it is hard to determine which idea is actually good and worthwhile to test/implement and which ones are trollbait.

A lot of people are screaming for SMN BP timer reductions, but very few, if only one, is screaming for SMN melee gear. Would the SMN melee gear idea be looked at as much as SMN BP timer reductions? Does everyone agree that SMN needs melee gear? Is it worth the time to even look into one or both "problems?"

All threads are read by the community representatives, even if they don't respond to them. They most likely consider feedback that has been carefully thought out and articulated to be at the top of the "worth discussing" ladder.

Probly a lot of it boils down to a sort of statistical comparison, and trying to balance the development resources/timeline constraints put on them. They have people that watch other forums as well. Probly the old "squeaky wheel" thing where whatever the community as a whole is screaming about the most seems to get more focus at times. Then there are the more logical and obvious things like issues with chests that got addressed pretty quickly. We got that turned around inside of about 2 months, whereas there are some things that it took years to get addressed (like for pet jobs) simply because SE seemed resistant to tweaking them to make them better.

Some ideas are just obviously needed and when a viable solution is presented that they can test some tweaks for quickly and easily they get run through--while others have to take a much longer time to test for balance issues and frankly, they probably just put those off in lieu of doing the faster/easier things first. I would imagine trying to push out positive changes on a monthly basis and then having to patch the side effects afterwards is a bit hard to keep up with sometimes.

Everyone who melee agree, those who do not melee disagree. It would be the same about all other categories. Should RDM get an update? RDMs say yes, everyone else says "They are too good already!". And if you ask people why they don't play RDM, their answer is "It sucks". Or if you ask people why they don't melee on SMN, it is "it sucks".

I think it is sad that SE would even listen to people against things, since they are usually just based on opinions and not facts. While people in favor of things have actual experience and know what they are talking about.

Besides, Summoner melee gear is to 90% just setting SMN as a tag on the same armors CORs and PUPs get. The time investment into this is insignificant. The balance issues are trivial as well, since I can promise you that apart from Dallas, nobody here will out-DD everyone else with melee gear on SMN.

The sad part is that even if something is unbalanced, their opinions may just make them answer "It is working as intended" (It should suck). They are after all nothing more than humans, and humans can be the worst animals in the world.

Who is the one person begging for melee gear? Certainly not the DG bandwagoneers. Certainly not the BP/release SMN. Certainly not the people who melee and blame avatar buffs. Is it Mala? I'm guessing no one, considering you read it.

SOOO, BP timer reduction. You aren't melee, so lets go with BP/release. Let's say you have managed to reach 1/10 a WAR, which the mathies were so nice to provide. What fraction of a WAR do you want to be? 10/10? You need a 4.5 second timer.

That's unrealistic that SE will cater to the weakest DD. Let's say 7.0/10. That way melee SMN at best ties WAR. You still need a 6.4 second timer.

No, you were probably thinking a 30 second timer. That's a 50% increase in BP damage. Your "fix" brings BP/release from 1/10 to 1.5/10. You'd still get laughed out. Are you this trollbait you mentioned, or is there a third classification "weak idea?"

Any fix that doesn't remove the hard line between pets and players is no fix.
