View Full Version : Account Recovery Blues

So, here I am. Another year has gone by and I've got the FFXI itch again. Problem is, I haven't been able to access my original account (or second account for that matter). Sure, I've got my shiny new account that's linked with the same account as my FFXIV stuff, but I really miss my old THF (and all the progress/cash on my old account). It seems that I give trying to recover my account a go about once a year and every time it doesn't work. Let me explain the situation and maybe someone has a suggestion (or several) for getting it back this time around?
First - The credit card I used no longer exists. I created this account directly after the NA release and the account that the credit card (really a debit card) came from has been closed for well over 7 years. I've already pulled my credit reports and they leave the last 4 digits xxxx'd out so I've not had any luck with that particular tidbit of information.
Second - Again, 7 years ago. Several moves and computers since then so I no longer have the original box, POL ID, serial number or anything.
I think that's about it. I mean, is it possible to fax a copy of my license or something to that effect? Has anyone had any luck when in a situation like mine? Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions. :)

Start from scratch. Its easier to get to 90 then try to get your old account backup and running again.

Easy, and yet, not fun still
But you can get well geared up and ready for main stuff in less than a month now.

Is it really that streamlined now? I mean, I had millions of gil, alchemy to 90+ and full goby bags. Pains my heart. :P Ah well, perhaps you're right.

I doubt you could get the gil back tbh.

Ouch. :( Does that have something to do with how long my account has been "retired?"

Call SE and tell them you want notary recovery.

If you didn't keep that information, you're not going to be able to prove you had the account to recover it. Learn to keep better track of your records. They tell you to keep the codes and your login information.
I've moved every year or two since starting the game in 2002, and I still know right where my game case and registration codes are. The account information is printed out inside the case. I also scanned the pages and saved them to several external hard drives.

I gave them all my checking info (adress, ph number, etc) from that time and got my account back...

What is notary recovery? I've never heard of it.

While I can appreciate your ability to keep great records, this doesn't answer my question. Thanks for replying though.

Yeah, I tried this but getting the old bank account information hasn't worked yet. Maybe I need to call my old bank and see if they can give me that info. Hmm.

You only need your name and POL ID. You might not even need the POL ID. Any other information isn't necessary to recover an account with notary form.

Arg, no POL ID. That's very interesting though - I will give them a call tomorrow and see what we can work out, thank you very much! :)

Quoting this because this post ended the thread.
