My understand now is that linkshell or pearl just a chatting device i would like to that upgraded into guilds with special skills you can buy for your guild members maybe from system similar to merit points but instead linkshell leader or guild leader can switch to Guild points mode and for example they can buy special skills or keyitems that give extra bonus.

for example someone decides to make Blacksmithing guild he or she can buy skills that can improve crafting skills even further than items currently in the game

everyone post guild skills or linkshell skills that you would like to see

....what?

You don't need a linkshell to get 100 skill in any craft, including synergy (which caps at 80 atm).

Why would anyone want to be in a specific linkshell just for crafting? Wouldn't that be a social shell with some emphasis on the craft, which nobody would need help with?

And how would you suggest these "linkshells" to get these points? By a different method that they already have? How would you differentiate between LS guild points and normal guild points? What's the point in having normal guild points if you can make your own LS and get the points there?

I know you are trolling, but seriously, stop....

I'm just pointing out the flaws of the argument.

That thread I created yesterday was for a different purpose.

Linkshells are "Guilds."

And guild skills are stupid. I don't want em. It punishes people for not having one.

Why does ever post this troll make seem to suggest something from or very similar to world of warcraft. You think he goes over to the WoW and suggests that they do things like we do here?

As much as I hate you OP I would definitely enjoy LS levels for minor conveniences and maybe something relevant at the end. Keep the FF lingo though, guilds and clans all sound way too medieval european.

They actually added this in WoW when Cataclysm came out. You have your guild but it gets guild exp when people in your guild do stuff like level, quests, dungeons, raids ect. As your guild levels up you get guild perks and abilities. For example, +10% exp, +10% rep gains, more skill ups for when crafting stuff, more points from running dungeons or more honor points, chance for more stuff when mining harvesting, a mass resurrection spell, a spell to teleport everyone in your group to your location. They had lots of guild perks for every level your guild gained.

This is actually kind of fun and keeps people from hoping around guilds a lot. But I doubt that this could be added in FFXI due to PS2 limitations and whatever.

Its a good idea but then he took it directly from WoW.

A good idea is a good idea. The devs should take it into consideration anyway

If we wanted world of warcraft, we would play world of warcraft....

They actually explained some time ago, as a note, that the linkshell system was one of the first things they programmed and changing it would be nearly impossible because of spaghetti code issues.

95% of the OP's "suggestions" are taken straight from WoW. Even the terms he's using, are WoW-ish. I have no idea why he even plays FFXI.

Blizzard actually takes good ideas from other games all the time. Like Rift had something like guild challenges you do stuff with your guild mates and you earn extra gold for your guild bank and bonus exp. So it didn't take them long to add the same system to WoW.

SE could do the same. If they see a good idea in another MMO they could use it.

This is true. And it doesn't have to be an exact replica of another MMO mechanic, word for word, etc.

The point is, if someone comes up with a good system, there are ways to implement the idea into the game without it being so noticeable that it feels like a literal 'copy/paste' of the other game.

SE should actually take mechanics from other FF's as opposed to other MMO's. One of those things could have been tetra master IN FFXI, where you challenge NPC's and other players in card battles, and you can trade in cards and such for different items/gear/prizes. This way tetra master would have survived as a game, instead of flopping out like it did.

OMG WOW THE BEST GMAE EVAR!

Oh wait, no, it sucked. Guilds Sucked.

Having friends to talk to and do stuff with is amazing. People shouldn't just be in your LS because they want your GUILD SKILLs. FFXI is a social game.

Go play a less social game that has a system for everything and plays itself for you. You have no actual interest in playing FFXI.

I am in support of this, but please keep the terminology Final Fantasy, not medieval. I can't stand that crap, "guild," "clan," all sounds so barbaric. Linkshell sounds classy. :)

More important issues are on the devs' minds though I'm sure...

hmmmm if it isn't too difficult to implement a check if u have a ls pearl equipped and to check how many bodies are in it atm, then it could look like this:

key item 1:
if linkshell equipped and 10 ppl+ in it str+5

key item 2:
if linkshell equipped and 20 ppl+ in it str+10

and so on, also for other stats and could enhance job trait / abilities.

another way would be an extra menu for linkshell:

"equip linkshell benefits"

you got 5 slots for benefits to equip and strength varies with bodies who have your ls equiped.

of course it requires another porter moogle slip to store them, /inv full no thanks

all KI's active all time could lead to ppl being very overpowered.

hmmm but option 2 could cause that EG shells recruiting more ppl and that the new ppl have to be there always because they want max strength could cause more drama >.>

or they only activate if many ls peeps are in the same area, this could lead to more teamplay or ppl just go afk in that area to boost ls, and it could make /random things impossible except ppl are ready to create temporary shells.

Makes me wonder if you've actually ever played either of the 2 games before.

Linkshells were originally created to be a means of communication that you can participate in and equip easily. The development team does not have any intention to create a guild-related system.

But Camate, we'd rather have the Devs look at Sturdy Pyrix: open with key option (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxi/threads/9790-Sturdy-Pyrix-and-a-new-open-with-key-option). <.<

(worth a shot)

Actually, I think people would rather have the devs look at more serious problems, like BP timers or......damn, that is the only problem I know of atm.

I wish I could agree with you, but I'd like to point out that...
Event skipped.

Raxiaz
06-17-2011, 04:44 AM
"Event skipped" happens when a player casts anything or uses anything on you that causes an animation. It also occurs when you received action from a monster. Due to this, I don't know if SE can fix your problem persay. They already tried & failed fixing "curing animations immobilizing characters."

Liked your post, though. ^^
