If BST are not meant to charm anything, and not meant to tank, (and obviously not meant to heal or nuke) then they must be a damage dealer. Every other DD job has a method of increasing their TP gain.
WAR: Double Attack, Retaliation
THF: Dual Wield, Triple Attack
MNK: Martial Arts, Kick Attacks, Tactical Guard
SAM: Meditate, Store TP, Hasso, Sekkanoki, Zanshin
DRG: Jump, High jump, Conserve TP
DRK: Absorb TP, Occult Acumen, Tactical Parry
NIN: Dual Wield, Tactical Parry
DNC: Dual Wield, Reverse Flourish, Tactical Parry, Conserve TP
BLU: Double Attack, Dual Wield
PUP: Martial Arts, Tactical Switch (and double attack/barrage/haste through it), Tactical Guard
PLD: Shield Mastery
BLM: Occult Acumen
SCH: Occult Acumen, Adloquirum
RNG: Velocity Shot, Double Shot, Barrage, Conserve TP
COR: Triple Shot, Tactician's roll
RDM: Shield Mastery
Only BST, WHM, BRD, and SMN don't have one. And only one of those jobs ever melees. Even the MAGES, who never melee have something.
I suggest one of (or more than one) the following.
A) Quadruple Attack as a trait. Even just 2% activation would be fine. WAR's Double Attack is 10%, THF's Triple Attack is 5%, quadruple attack at 2% would be in line. (and the ability to add 1% more per merit would be appreciated, like WAR and THF)
B) The ability to switch TP with your pet, or just take your pet's TP. Since most pets' weapon skills do less damage than a normal hit, or can only attack every 2-3 minutes (like Shasra) plenty of tp is wasted on the pet.
C) The ability to skillchain with your pet. Wouldn't increase TP gain, but at least the pet's TP isn't worthless, and the TP you do get is more useful.

What BST needs is a set of stances that make the pet strong enough to hold its own without the masters DPS at the cost of weakening the master. Raise the offensive capabilities (pet: haste/att/acc/new traits) of the pet while such a JA is active.
The opposite JA would weaken the pet but strengthen the master.
Obviously BST can solo alot of things already but as soon as you scale up the monsters, the DPS of the pet starts to lag behind. The weaponskills through Ready are also pretty weak and in need of spicing up or a rework.
DRG does the strong master/weak pet, SMN controls temporary pets which lack DPS but deal in spike damage, PUP attempts to create balance between master/pet and so BST should be weak master/strong pet specializing in DPS.

I agree that bst would benefit greatly from a dd related job trait. but couldn't you count the killer traits as dd traits? I would like to see my pets out damage me again someday, traits or JA's that could make your pet stronger would be nice. The lack of dd traits and abilities should be supplemented by having a pet but the pets suffer greatly from lv adjustments vs higher lv mobs, but it looks like SE doesn't want to give too much to bst. People like to scream "THAT WOULD BE OP" at everything.

Also i wanted to say i melee on bard regularly just singing and pulling isn't that fun

Only makes sense that if the pdt of bst pets was seen as a problem to the point of nerfing it cause noob bst's took to long to kill stuff that a single DD trait is not asking too much. Doesn't need to be anything game breaking just something for the DD bst to look forward to every 3-5 mins.

How about being able to copy pet traits over to the master at the cost of depopping the currently called pet?
A new pet can be called afterwards. It's just a thought to help hit BSTs in the wallet more since SE doesn't seem to have a problem with that.

I disagree with bst getting just a random unrelated Damage increase trait. Id rather get something that lines up with our theme. I personally don't even see dd as our main problem atm. I do very well on damage dealing on bst in and outside of abyssea. So if we did get a job change or a new JA or JT i kinda hope it will be something useful, like an AI fix or the tons of useful ideas suggested in this forum.
Bst have fencer. That is what fits in the list.
It would be nice to be able to buff our pet or skillchain w/ pet, or shucks swapping tp like pups would be really cool.
Oh, and I do think we have several unique tanking tools. the -dt cap on pets didn't incapacitate us, it just limited us. we can tank alot still.
skillchain w/ pet is my favorite.

well we grow spurs at lv 83, and that easy to get regain axe, so pets can dish out a lot of pain. As far as beefing up our own bodies, well we didn't work so hard at monster taming to have to fight ourselves!
If you really want quadruple attack, just work on the magian 4 hit axe lol, working on it myself atm, can't wait to bust it out next to some ninjas and thiefs
absorbing tp from your pet though, I really like that idea!

Fencer doesn't increase tp gain, and frankly doesn't increase ws's either, since you almost never are single wielding. And even if that was our version, WAR gets it too, and theirs is stronger.
Our tanking is also kind of terrible. In Abyssea, it's the atmas doing all the work. I've been doing Dynamis recently, and even the EM enemies take 3 yuly's and a stack of biscuits each. I can't even melee on the T's because yuly can't even keep hate for 5 seconds after I snarl a rampage onto her. And there's not even enough pet damage- gear to meet the player's 50% cap, much less the pet's 87% outside, so we're pretty terrible tanks.
Kinda wanted the ability to skillchain with my pet myself. Pet TP is a waste when their ws's do the same (or less, freaking 11 damage fireballs) as a normal hit and only every few minutes. But if they could open a skillchain for cloudsplitter to close, the damage wouldn't even matter.
But hey, if quadruple attack is just sitting around, not assigned to a job....

Well, BST does get Killer effects, and AF3+2 body turns those into a direct damage boost. The downside is that you have to know what you're aiming to kill before you go out. Still, AF3+2 body should be a ~9-10% damage boost against anything we get a trait for. It's kind of an oddly appropriate DD boost for Beastmaster.

They have it. They don't even use it, or have a need for it because they're not a melee, and yet they have more than BST does.

That's a piece of equipment. If the killer effect always did that, and the body made it stronger, I'd be happy, but next update when the body becomes obsolete, we'll lose even that.
And that's damage, not TP gain. If we were talking about tp gain and damage enhancements, this list is going to look even WORSE for BST when every other job gets half a page of stuff, and BST is sitting there with... Killer Instinct. (which is still missing an uncapped aquan and any bird, by the way SE.)

but if you charm a puk.. we have a dragon :P
