Reopen the Character Reactivation Service. This is getting quite ridiculous. You have been putting this off since March and it is now June. There was a thread in May that said we would see it by the end of that week, not done. And that came from a DEV. Please get it together and reopen it. I am extreme need to give you the extra $1.00 a month, please accept my money....
I realize that Camate posted another response saying that the team is working on it and is further delayed...what is the deal tho? How could it honestly be taking this long to get it going again?

Don't be surprised when nobody will be giving you any helpful information now.
I'm sorry that you are still deactivated, but with attitude, I'm glad you aren't on my server now.
Thanks for your interest in the game, but please. Go away.

Then what is the complaint?
If you are back, why are so worried about this?
Also, you won't get SE's opinion. So deal with it.

Ive got a character on another account I wouldn't mind reactivating. It's more the principal that they have told us on multiple occasions that they are bringing it back up only to delay it longer. I can imagine there are more folks that are trying to come back to the game that cannot reactivate their characters because of this. Yes, I have heard that if you call and harass a telephone support agent enough, they will reactivate it for you, so....why not just bring the service back up as a whole. Last year the delay from server transfers only put the reactivation service 3 weeks out of commission. I'm not necessarily angry at all but its just frustrating to check it every once in a while and it still be out of working condition so long after the maintenance.

There could be some issues that still needs to be resolved.
Don't forget, this all started in March. Do you remember what happened around that time?

Yeah, the earthquake and such. I understand that they are having some difficulty with stuff. But yet, we get updates in game dealing with Abby adjustments, job adjustments, emergency maint. Just doesn't add up. At least give us an explanation of what is taking so long. I guess its w/e and all but just frustrating.

I'll give you an explanation.
To conserve power, they need to cut off certain things that would help reserve power to the servers. One such thing they stated was air conditioning in the main offices. But do you think that air conditioning reductions have contributed to the 11% power reduction they needed to keep the servers online for continuing business?
Obviously they also need to conserve other "needless" power sources, and this may as well be one of them.
Did you know that Japan still does not have the power sources needed to bring the country back up to pre-earthquake power consumption? Although the discrepancy continues to get slimmer each day, it might be a little while longer before we get full service back from this game.

Yes I read the articles about their power conservation efforts. But I have also read from devs that CRS was supposed to be up by weeks end on 2 separate occasions. So, the power conservation theory doesn't really pertain to this instance while reading those quotes.

Unforeseen difficulties.
I'm sure you know about this problem. That's what happens with natural disasters and near nuclear explosions.

To blame the lack of the Character Reactivation Service on Earthquake power consumption issues is just tacky =/. You may as well be saying:
"Hey, why won't my landlord come fix this light fixture?"
"9/11"
What needless power source do you think they shut down that is still offline? The servers, registration, billing, and game data alike, are all online. It's not like they don't have access to deactivated character data. They just haven't flipped the flag for account activation from off to on.
Honestly, I'd venture a guess at it having more to do with congestion issues on recently merged servers than anything else. They're probably trying to figure out what to do about that. That is assuming, of course, that this is in fact still down. Any confirmation on that?
Edit:
I just tried it this morning and it went through. I'll confirm if it worked after I log in. Waiting on a version update.
Edit 2:
Never mind. They just announced it's back up:

Korpg, you have no idea whether this is to do with the earthquake or not so throwing the word "earthquake" out there because you're annoyed about people whining is a bit unfair. I think you've made your point now, whether or not it's relevant (it may well be), so why don't you leave this for SE to answer rather than continuing with this little thread-winning crusade you have going on here.
Feel free to come back with some obnoxious retort if you wish, I really couldn't care less.
But getting back on topic, yes I am annoyed about the Character Reactivation Service being down too. I've seen a lot of players returning to the game recently due to all the great improvements in-game and it would do SE some good if this service was back up and running.

Look, he asked for a reason why it was down since March. Since I do remember that March 11th, 2011 is when the earthquake happened, and the OP stated that the service has been down since March, and I know that they are still having power issues there as of this date, it seems plausible that this could be the reason. Did I say it is the reason? No. So don't take my words out of context.
All I was trying to do is to give a reason why it was down, which it looks like it is up now. Who knows, maybe they forgot to flip a switch or something.

Great news...
Character Reactivation Service Recovery (Jun. 8)
We are happy to announce that the Character Reactivation Service, temporarily suspended since March 7, 2011 8:00 (PDT) due to the World Merge, has resumed service as of Jun 8, 2011 6:10 (PDT).
We apologize for the extended period in which the service was unavailable and thank you for your patience.
Nough said. :D
