So my sig was removed, because it violates the forum guidelines somehow. But, I don't know how exactly it violated the forum guidelines. Normally, when Mods removed my posts (it's happened 5-6 times) I would get an email saying why it happened, this time it did not, and with the lack of ability to directly communicate via PM or some other means, I have no way to ask them directly to get my answer so I can avoid doing it again in the future. So I pose this question to everyone here: why was it removed?

(my sig was the drawing of a mithra with a kannagi, was in purples/blues/greys and had a bit of graffitti on the side)

This is a list of the rules for the forums that I found when I went a looked:
Posting content that does not follow the theme of the category or thread.
Posting content that deviates from topics concerning FINAL FANTASY XI .
Posting spam, including meaningless characters and white space.
Posting a number of posts with the same content.
Taking or discussing criminal actions.
Posting that constitutes discrimination against another forum member or group (also including forming groups for the purpose of discrimination), insults, slander, libel, harassment of a group or individual.
Use of inappropriate or aggressive language.
Posting obscenity, pornography, propaganda, or other expressions unrelated to the game.
Posting about commercial, business, advertising, political, or religious matters.
Posting that would violate anti-stalking laws or orders.
Posting personal information about yourself or other specific individuals.
Posting aimed to create a negative impact on the community or its members.
Impersonating another person or taking action that might reasonably be mistaken as the actions of another.
Reproducing, duplicating, altering, supplementing, changing, or other secondary use of this Service’s software, either whole or in part.
Posting seeking to damage or disparage Square Enix, the forum, FINAL FANTASY XI, or others.
Posting content that seeks to interfere with the running of FINAL FANTASY XI.
Posting content that criticises either Square Enix staff or specific individuals.
Doing anything that is obstructs the use of the forum or FINAL FANTASY XI for other users.
Infringing upon Square Enix's or any third party’s intellectual property (copyright, trademark, etc.) rights or privacy rights.
Undertaking any RMT-related actions, including selling items, gil, or accounts for real world currency.
Attempting to harm or obstruct the operation or use of this forum.
Doing anything that is prohibited in the Square Enix Account Terms of Use.
Taking any other actions that are deemed inappropriate by Square Enix in our sole discretion.

This is the only reason I found that makes any sense at all, since it was a drawing of a mithra that I made, maybe SE was mad I imposed on their material and made a drawing of content they owned? But that seems wrong somehow, like they wouldn't really care.

That does seem strange. The only (logical) reason I could see that being done is either the file size was too big,(but we don't have the option to upload it only outsource link) or the dimensions. If either of those two reasons were the problem there should be a statement in the FAQ about what the min/maximum requirements are, and a brief summary on the "edit signature" page.

Ya, there's no information about size requirements anywhere, which is why I ruled that out as a possibility.

That's odd. I know my absolutely massive sig was removed after like a month of using it (for obvious reasons). Your sig was really cool, though. If it is infringement, wouldn't Kingfury's sigs and pretty much anything using FFXI character models also be against the forum guidelines?

It was pretty much fanart, and it wasn't even that big either. Huh.

Your image stretched the forum horizontally for me (I view 1366x768 on my laptop), and I assume many others. Just resize it about 75% and try again. It really was a big picture.

Kingfury enjoys a personal relationship with the Devs, so his sigs are cool. /salute

Even though it's not mentioned anywhere in the rules, I can only guess that Kamugi's sig was removed due to its horizontal dimension extending beyond the forum table. I can't imagine that it was offensive in any real way, and furthermore, I'd definitely place it among the best of the player-made sigs.

EDIT: My resolution is set to 1600 x 900, and the sig extended horizontally beyond the forum table. The forum itself doesn't even take up 2/3rds of my screen. When my browser window is expanded to full-screen, the right 1/3rd+ of my monitor is just empty green space (not complaining in any way - this is just the way I see the forum).

It didn't break table on my screen! lol

I edited my post to be more specific. I know almost nothing about web/graphic design, so I don't know if the added info helps. :(

I would think its a size issue. Resize it, put it back on and see what happens?

Really a shame they took it down. I'm sorry. :<

It stretched a little on my screens as well. But the signature would float over the edge so I really don't see what the problem is.

I would also suggest making it smaller. And if they take it down again, then they best come here and explain why. :/

I think it would probably be best to confirm that it is indeed a sizing/tabling issue before resizing and putting the same sig back up.

Since I don't think GMs are allowed to respond to account-specific questions over the forum (it violates our Privacy Policy), I'd recommend contacting a GM directly in-game. That's probably the most direct route to get to someone who can actually answer your question.

I'd bring up phone/chat support, but the people who run that are typically account service reps rather than actual moderators so they may not know how to help you directly without getting a supervisor on the line or redirecting you anyways.

Honestly, a PM function would solve a lot of problems. But, truth be told, I can't imagine how many absolutely useless PMs would be spammed to GM/Dev inboxes on a daily basis so it's really no surprise that they've held off on it.

I would do that, but what if I guess the reason wrong and it gets deleted again? Trying to avoid that!

Well, what do you have to lose? It was a good sig, not offensive, and the only thing that seemed "off" was possibly the size. Try a smaller size, if it gets removed again you'll know it wasn't that. What's the worst that could happen really? They remove it again right? If they're not tellign you the reason, might have to do some um... "Investigation" on your own. =]
