Sorry if this is a stupid question but my friend has been working on his sword of trials for a bit now without much luck and I was wondering if self skillchains with blue magic gave points or if he's only getting points from the initial WS.

They do not. Self skillchains don't give bonus points.

at all, or just when doing WS -> CAbluemagic?
I would think if you did like a Sekkanoki selfSC it would give you the opening point and the closing points
but since CAbluemagic isn't the trial weapon's WS it wouldn't register

just for clarification

At all, a Samurai using Sekkanoki won't get extra points and neither will a BLU. Only somewhat exception to this is PUP, but they technically aren't self SCing.

Sekkanoki skillchains give full points for opening and closing the chain

Sekkanoki skillchains give full points for opening and closing the chain

This, to my knowledge any kind of self-skillchains give full points. However, you only get points for performing a weapon skill, the skillchain level only determines the reward. No actual WS, no points, makes sense to me.

ya exactly, Opening Skill chains gives you 1 point, its closing them that will give you the points, so do as above stated, and /SAM, sekkanoki and meditate the hell out of it, and get them WS points! =)

Yeah I was incorrect about Sekkanoki, my apologies.

points only accumulate if u close this is not the case with blu spells as the spell itself is the closer and not the ws

Just go BLU/SAM and put on some regen atmas and go to town on crabs in Abyssea - Mis. Watch some TV while you break.

Better still, do it on war with retalliation
