View Full Version : Increase chance to receive Ebisu Items from lik/gugrusaurs.

The rate of obtaining opal silk from lik and saber shoot from gugrusaurs needs an increase. I'm 0/424 just on lik right now, and while not the worst that has happened, it's still pretty retarded, especially when you take into consideration how long it takes to fish 484 lik. Turning in more fish doesn't make the chance increase either, so I'm virtually still at 0. It's as if I didn't spend all my time and potential gil fishing them and just threw it out in the trash. Yes I'm mad. I'm not even half way done yet. There needs to be an increase, majorly.

Ebisu is a rank 1 bonanza prize... if they made it easier any time soon it would be a huge srap in the face.

And some people go 1/1 on both items I hear, I don't think it can get any easier than that..

Hohenheim

Yeah and salvage bodies used to be rank 1 prizes, ridill is still rank 2 I think and what not. Relic owners have been slapped in the face, so have salvage gear owners, your point is?

And yeah some people go 1/1 on both items, retarded luck. It sounds like you obviously haven't had to do try for it. The % to obtain it is too low, you shouldn't have to go over 200 fish on each item.

I haven't tried for ebisu no but I have tried and acquired marduk body so I know what it's like to go 0/xxxxxxx on something. Why can't you just ask your friends to fish the ebisu fish for you and then you can pay them back later?

The worst thing of it all is the fact theres no progression, at all.

And SE should also let us get Lu shangs after only 500 moat carps, also, relics should only cost 5 100CCs instead of millions of currency, that amount of work for such a weapon is ridiculous.

Oh wait.

Ebisu is ultimate fishing rod. Most people average about 400 legendaries to get the rod, thats only 80 million gil in fish. Compared to a relic weapon its still easier to get, and far more useful.

Hohenheim

yeah sure, look at all the people who go 1/100 or even 200 or less. the chance for this IS ridiculous when you look at all what you need to do. it's retarded.

I don't think it's so bad.

I'm glad you understand the difference between progression and random BS. Oh wait, you dont, because you're comparing Lu Shang fish requirement (which is SET at 10000) and Relic weapon currency (which is SET at ~180k singles, varies by weapon) to random number generator BS that is Zaldon. Atleast with the aforementioned two scenarios, you're progressing to a goal.

I've fished up 4 ebisu rods for myself and my friends combined and honestly I think it's too easy. I usually do one item on a weekend and get about 220 fish through fri/sat/sunday. That is about 22 hours of total fishing. So 44 hours of work on average for an ebisu rod. That's EASIER than lu shang quest, which would take you at minimum 100 hours.

Granted you have to know someone with an ebisu rod already to do it that way. If you're not in a situation where you can take advantage of that, I understand as I did my own ebisu rod without any friends to fish them up for me. I bought all my gugs and liks for 25-27k(2009 prices) a piece from gil I made fishing in talacca cove. It's bat*** insane to try to fish up the liks/gugs yourself with lu shang, you should be paying up to 30k/fish before you resort to that.

I'm sorry op that you are unlucky with it and 0/4xx on lik but just keep plugging away in talacca and buy the fish and you'll have it in no time.

Going by current prices you can buy 500 lik for about 7.5M. Once you have ebisu rod it isn't going to take very long to make that back up. I have no idea where that guy got 80million gil worth of fish from, it is on average only about 5% of that amount.

Nibu went 1/1200 on gugs and didn't cry half as hard as you. You should just deal with it.

and fucking snaps for nibu. im amazed he didn't go insane with random generator. maybe you should just move on and ignore me if you don't like it.

hmmm it ranges from 1/1 - 1/1200

anyone ever considered that the size / weight of lik / gugru matters?

the ebisu rod is for "master" fisherman, so could be that the lik (465 im/2300pz max) / gugru (423im/2141pz) has the item in it.

example:
if only length matters:
gugrusaurus: 149 - 423 im , that's 274 possible lengths , this gives u a chance of 1/274 to fish the longest.

i think it would be worth the shot to make a thread or post the size / weight of lik / gugru here at which ppl obtained the opal silk / silver shoot.

of course this theory can be wrong, but some testings won't hurt ;)

no ones going to trade each fish manually to document size/weight. People have trade macros for it.

It takes a lot of work. Suck it up buttercup the rest of us went through with it. Many of us have 4-5 ebisus on characters, I myself have fished up over 10 ebisus for my server. So you got a dry streak, its still worth it. Besides, you've also made over 1mil gil from zaldoning.

I fished up nearly every single one of my ebisu fish, skilled me woodworking from 73-80 for almost free doing it too. You might want to also take into consideration that not only is the ebisu a license to print money (can easily make over 500K fishing haks per day) but you get 3 mil when you sell your lus after finish ebisu.

gogogogo. I just finished an ls mate's liks today, 1/500. he got lucky on gugs though 1/200

Went from 0/300 to 1/500 in the span of three days. Would have been 0/580 had he not got early on in that last batch.

I actually think it'd be neat if SE realized the tally of the rate at which ebisu numbers increased server by server, if they have the info for that.

I predict we'd see servers ebisu holders climb up in a curve as more ebisu holders = more available ebisu fish, making it steadily easier and easier to get the rod.

The worst part of this game is the randomness of things. Things like one player getting something very rare in 1/1 or 1/10 or 1/30 attempts while the other needs 50, 100, 1000... and so on. It's just not fair; the efforts should be equally rewarded while I do think some factor of randomness is allowed, this game is just ridiculous with it at times.

Comparing the old and even current Dynamis to Einherjar for example, what I like about Einherjar is that you always get something from it, every time you do it. More of the content should be like this instead of grinding your way through the sea of randomness (hello empyrean upgrade items et cetera).

it would been better to have it set similar to the lu shang quest to be honest.

turn in x amount of legendary (level 100 fish) of any type and receive your rod until that day though it is time to go make some bait and get back out fishing i should be able to do another 150 fish today i hope with friends and myself and if anyone is selling which is rar these days it seems even though so many more people have the rods lol

So totally annoyed with this quest.

1/641 Opal Silk
0/1,073 Saber Shoot

Have met several players that have started and finished this quest after me going as little as 1/10 and 1/50.

I went about 1/250 and 1/250 on first Ebisu, turned them in on full or new moon, i also fished with 2 lu's. Just got my second at about 1/200 1/200.

Good Luck!

Of course you're going to have people going 1/400 or so for every person going 1/1. This is where the law of averages applies.

Personally, both of my items came right around the 200ish mark (like ~1/187 Lik, ~1/213 Gugs.) I posted exact #'s somewhere when it happened, but I can't remember at the moment (probably FFXIAH's fishing thread.)

Heh, yesh! And almost two years later, I still don't think it's fair (nor fun). ^^

From the looks of it, I was doing quests for them seals to upgrade the Empyrean armour. Such fun random times.

I might have been a bit harsh on the randomness there... It's probably not the worst part of it all. Or yeah, it probably is! I definitely can't see myself going after these ones still. I'm just too far on the extremely bad luck side that, unless adjusted, things might implode if I were to undertake it...

And that is, as they say, that.

I just wish the devs would set a dead limit, like if I end up turning in 2,000 that I will get the item, no more.

I've grown jaded towards my fellow fisher, especially those lucky enough to finish the quest in much more reasonable numbers.

Guys I think this deserves some attention. Not a full rate upgrade but something more like every 100 fish turned in there is a 1% increase in chance of getting the KIs etc and after getting them the numbers reset.

This isn't asking to much.

I managed few of these rods and it wasn't fun getting them. Once you get your first you can fish the rest for others. For the record no I don't fish haks all day on my account. I did it to help make money to skill up crafting or make foods. I never put effert in fishing Misi for shapers shawl nore do I want to. Check my profile. (http://www.ffxiah.com/player/Fenrir/Saricks)

Most players want the rod for amount of gil they can make fishing haks. I tried it once and was sick after a day. God forbid fishing drains you IRL so bad if you play the game hours on end.
