Kicking People from linkshells suffers from some from several issues...

When a player is kicked it is invisible to everyone in the linkshell.
No one but the person who initated the kick knows who kicked another player.
The player whom is kicked doesn't even know who is responible.

This may lead to abuse (or misuse) of the /breaklinkshell (or kick) command. People are irrational some have a tendency just to kick a player for a childish reason. Or often no reason. Regardless kicking is WAY to transparent. I would like to see when another person is kicked. I'm sure everyone would like too.

"often leads to abuse of /breaklinshell?"
Uh, no, it doesn't?

That's not to say I wouldn't want to know who kicked, but I've never heard of people kicking leading to a linkshell break just because they don't know who did it.

I think the reason this was done goes back to the Japanese non-confrontational approach to social affairs.

It's the same reason you don't get a "soandso has booted you from the party", it just leads to conflict and comes off as combative even if the action wasn't.

Is it really that hard to just hand someone a new pearl? One of he linkshells i was in once, i had my pearl broke at least 2-3 dozen times by one of the sackholders. If someone is "abusing" it, just go grab a new pearl from someone else. Not a big deal. Of course if someone is going to break a pearl as a joke, i doubt they would think twice if it told everyone they did it.

/breaklinkshell <player> KICKS a player from the linkshell. It's the exact same as going to to the linkshell player list, selecting a player and then choosing "kick". Only way to "break" a linkshell for the entire group is for the linkshell holder to drop the linkshell.

I am asking that everyone should see who kicked who from the linkshell.

I thought you were referring to killing the whole linkshell.

Still, I'm concerned that knowing who did what might actually lead to more drama.

I don't think so, because most people won't even dare to kick people without a reason if they knew everyone's gonna know it was them. This is something that's bothering me as well, we had a rogue sackholder secretely kick someone from our LS in the past, and yes, while repearling helps, it's something that shouldn't happen in the first place.

I can see a value in making these actions more transparent; but just like terminating someone's employment, these things should just be handled more... discretely.

Other than that, it's usually pretty easy to figure out who kicked someone, especially if you're the one that was kicked out. If you have no idea who kicked you, or why, then chances are really good you were done a favor.

At the very least, the linkshell holder (leader) should be notified. Anyone have a reason as to why not? This would make both sides happy and keep discretion in tact.

The only thing that's missing from linkshell operations is the ability to boot offline members and change linkshell leadership over to another individual.

Everything else would be fluff.

I'm very strongly for this as well. It's sad to see good linkshells die because the leader left. Reforming is often annoying and impractical, especially for older members who return to the game and find their LS dead.

Why they don't just make the linkshell item itself into a non-ex item I do not know.
