While I've posted my issue in other related threads, I've decided to make my own to emphasize the severity of this issue since the most recent update and hope that proper investigations and actions are in the works.
As is, Port Bastok is my problem area. I have done a file check, a fresh install and update, I have set up port forwarding, restarted my modem, reset my router to factory default and set up port forwarding again, and basically done everything short of sacrificing a chocobo to the digital gods.
I am a Comcast user. I have spent time tracing communications between myself and the game servers, finding latency spikes at KDDI-AMERIC.edge2.LosAngeles9.Level3.net [4.53.228.14] that carry on to subsequent hops to Japan. At this point, I'm basically out of Comcast's sphere of influence and am left to think this issue is solely in SE's hands or a problem beginning at the above linked hub.
People are not content with the silence or canned responses that aren't helping. Not everyone has friends they trust enough to move them out of affected zones or are capable of directly connecting to their modem, in part defeating the purpose of them having a router to begin with.
