View Full Version : [dev1015] Expanding Dominion Op Party Camps

As is probably the case on at least a few servers, the Sand Sweeper camp in Abyssea - Altepa and the Bluffalo camp in Abyssea - Uleguerand both seem to fill quickly, and seem to be the most common options for places to get the fastest xp in Abyssea. This is partially due to the location of the Dominion Sargents, and the need to speak to them after every five enemies are defeated. Would it be possible to have your active Dominion Op automatically renew every five enemies, so that you would eliminate the need to speak to the Dominion Sargent every few minutes in one of these xp parties?
I say this both because it would expand the number of enemies people would be more likely to camp (those some distance away from Dominion Sargents), and it would allow doll and buffalo camps to spread out, so not everyone has to sit near the Dominion Sargent. This would open the doors to more parties camping more types of mobs in more locations, without fear of the xp loss from not participating in Dominion Ops.
If you would like to still require people to occasionally talk to the Dominion Sargent, you could make it wear off after some amount (say 100) enemies, after a set time period (such as a game-day), or make the Dominion Sargent be the only way of obtaining the free seals.
My main concern for this is imagining what these camps will be like when the cap is raised to 95, 99, or the new level 99 merits are added, and most of the server floods the Heroes zones for xp...
Regards,
Khargcs
Edit:
I posted the thread as a response to [dev1015] because this idea would go towards the same goals of [dev1015]'s update and could possibly be included in the update as well.

Ok, the only thing SE should do is ONE and ONE thing only.... make the xp reward to similar results of 4-5k from those two camps. That is all. There are MANY other camps options with the same nearby npc but the reward is 2-3k upon completion hence you don't see many people. Raptor camp in U.Range is just as good or even better but no one is there. Grauberg has a lot of good camps but no one bother to come either. Another thing that SE could do is to add MORE of these Dominion NPCs to alleviate congestion, even a 1 NPC on the in between areas. I mean, raising the xp reward is the easiest fastest way to give players more option.

Is this because the OPs are set lower, or because no one does them and they need to "level up"?

Well they could easily add another tweak that will be a major game changer in terms of xp camp. Add dominion camp on the other two aby areas. The instant they do this, you will see that there is NO MORE congestion or frustration from players on Abyssea. Even if they only add like 3-4 of these NPCs on each zones. Or they can do it that you signed on a "neverending quest" type when you zone in, and the game gives you auto cruor and xp similar to FoV for every 5-8 mobs you kill indefinetely unless you cancel it and pick another mob to hunt. You get no seal reward but most people would not care as long as they get xp.

Each dominion page seems to have a set limit of xp, some gives you more rewards compare to the others. Otherwise you will see many areas to be camped. There are at least a good 3-4 in Grauberg but people only pick Altepa for the doll because it gives you over 5k, the U.Range bufallo gives you 4k ish.

On my sevrer FC parties is pretty big for leechs to buy into so that helps with the good Ops camps being bit less crowded.

Except that you can't azure on the raptors as far as I've seen. Which is another leading factor.

Remember the days when people were intelligent enough to get lights from a few t1 NM when the alliance started out?
If people stopped acting like idiots they could easily get a few azure and then let red chests compensate for the lack of "natural" azure within 15 minutes. Even something as simple as having a blm or blu kill 3~5 mobs that give azure(less than 5 minutes of effort if not gimp) whenever they return from dumping merits would solve this problem.

I would actually like it more if the reward was comensurate on the # of kills.
Aka you hand in 5 you get the standard 5k, you hand in 10, you get 10k. With the cap being every 100 kills you get enough exp to get 2 full levels (minus 1 exp) similar to maze mongers.
I wouldnt mind runing back to the ops giver every 100 mobs.

Should be like joining bastion or campaign. Just tack on an icon that gives you exp bonus each 5 monsters.
If you really want the seals you can talk to the NPC once an hour.

Even without making the EXP rewards universal, just having more Ops NPCs (one near each family) would be welcome. Streamlining the Ops dialogue would also be nice to cut down on the confirmation spam.

Can we get "Infuse me with the same Dominion op as last time" option ;-p

I prefer the option for killing a larger number of mobs myself with possibly a bonus for killing the mobs further away from the npc. I hate having to stop to run back to an npc almost immediately after I engage the mobs. On the rare occasions where several people are competent I literally have to kill one mob and start running back immediately before I miss getting a new op by the time the next wave is in.
Something as simple as being allowed to do sign up for the op X amount of times in one "session" with the npc could make it work albiet with an increase in server load.
In grauberg I could be having whm hexa burns but the npcs are on the other side of the map. Most of the zone would be a prime exp place with a huge variety if only the ops didn't require so much running.

Part of why they fill up is also the seal rewards, and how long it takes to get a set of seals. I've done probably 10 Altepa parties and only gotten one body seal for BLM. Thus, since it's something I'm not competing on drops or having to find a variety of jobs to fight an NM, I do whenever I can for more of a chance at seals. The EXP doesn't matter much now that my BLM is at 90 and I have most of the merits I want. The next party will probably max my merits.

Sometimes the way they design this game is really baffling. SE should have seen this coming from a mile away. Take Bastion for example, great idea, but horrible implementation. Could they not at least fix it so that the martelo and npc last a bit longer instead of your 30-60 second battle... At least make it last 5 mnts long. They could easily revive the early aby area by adding FoV type of books (10 on each zones), even if it's not yielding seals, I can guarantee you people would do it and lessen the congestion on other aby areas.
