Chat log freeze?

Hello! I'm playing on a laptop using the Compact keyboard settings. Every so often when I try using the mouse to move while I have the chat log open (typing), it suddenly locks up and prevents me from typing anything at all. I can still move around and take commands, but I'm forced to log out if I want to type anything again.

Does anyone else have this sort of problem? I've also tried a USB keyboard but the same thing persists. =/
