View Full Version : Avatar Hate gone wrong.

It seems in recent updates that Square-Enix has messed with the avatar hate even more, every time I try to skill up staff and start meleeing, or try to solo mobs even after I Blood Pact: Rage, my avatar can't seem to get hate, and if they do by some miracle of a chance get hate, they can't keep it anymore like they used to, it has come to my attention if this stays the way it is, Summoner's can no longer do what they used to by means of soloing mobs and such, so does this mean Summoner is broken for good? Or could we actually get this fixed and actually be ourselves again >< .

The real question is what is...

Smn magic skill?
what gear are you wearing?
What are the mobs you fighting /check to you?
What gear do you use before you BP Rage and what gear do you end with to connect the hit?

**edit

I forgot do you have any merits into enmity?

There is only one way to melee solo now: open with BP: Rage, and then stop attacking if you take hate.

If you think it is bad now, wait until you grab one of those melee magian staves only SMN could use effectively.

Other ideas:
-enmity merits
-enmity gear instead of accuracy/attack gear
swap haste headgear for pet: haste headgear

Basically you can't eliminate the problem, you can only lessen it.

I was just wearing mostly staff skill up gear/accuracy+ gear for when I was skilling up, I was fighting the Crabs in The Boyhada Tree, but I was skilling up in Kuftal just the other day on those crabs and I was using Ifrit to unlock my Garland of Bliss WS while skilling up staff too and Ifrit kept hate w/o using BP's I'd only use BP's to make Fusion to make the points go by faster on unlocking my staff, I had Carbuncle out when skilling up in the Tree and my NPC(Soothing healer level 50) Mostly for the haste so I didn't have to use Garuda constantly for Haste, and Carbuncle couldn't keep any hate on me he would occasionally take hate when I BP'd but anytime I got a hit in or WS'd I would get hate back, which usually never happens, my Summoning Magic skill is still uncapped at level 276 but is well over 300+ with all my Summoning Magic Skill gear on, when I BP:Rage I usually use gear swaps in a party or solo according to the BP: Rage I have a Physical and Magical gear setup my Physical setup is:
Caller's Horn+2
Caller's Doublet+2
Soulscourge
Summoner's Bracers
Caller's Spats +1
Summoner's Pigaches
Vox Grip
Evoker's Ring

Magical Setup:
Same as above except on feet
Caller's Pigaches +2

but before the Bloodpact goes off I have my Blood pact ability Delay - Gear I use when I initiate the Blood Pact then I macro swap for either the Physical or Magical Blood Pact for Damage/Accuracy (though I really don't need the Accuracy)

I have no + enmity merits or gear, only -enmity piece of gear I have on Summoner constantly is Hedgehog Bomb
That's about it, I tried to solo Diabolos earlier today(Though I'm sure he is different from other avatars/mobs) and every time I tried to BP on Garuda, Garuda could not get or keep hate, I'm not sure if this is a glitch, or how Diabolos' hate is distributed, but it was rather discouraging and disappointing especially since yesterday when I solo'd Fenrir and had all this confidence built up, seeing as you could never even imagine soloing these Avatars back at 75 at least on Summoner that is.

I've always found that Carby couldn't hold hate without constantly spamming meteorite/the new one.

Try using a different avatar, and try to notice if your avatar is missing a lot..also if the mob your fighting is connecting its hit on the avatar as well...this will result in really fast hate loss.

I have a question, are you using favor while you do this? It will reduce the hate your avatar generates I've discovered while soloing back when it was introduced.

My other question is what other actions are you taking as well. Are you only attacking and WSing? Are you also casting a lot? Do you have any avatar enmity+ or pet enmity+ gear?

I noticed this in an Abyssea party the other day. My avatars were not keeping hate like they used to either. I thought it was just me. I have max smn magic skill and mostly AF3+1 gear.

I think I should clarify here. I took a break for the game for a few months, but unless I misses something in an update smn magic skill has nothing to do with hate generation nor the accuracy of your avatar's normal hits.

*If you are using Favor, your avatar will be shedding enmity faster.
*If you are not equipping avatar accuracy gear for normal melee hits and depending on skill to get you that accuracy, you are robbing yourself of accuracy. Equip pet/avatar accuracy enhancing gear. Af+1 pants, Af3+2 gloves for example.
*If you have any avatar enmity- gear that will contribute to it's enmity loss (or enmity + merits or gear for yourself) conversely you can also equip enmity - gear for yourself as well or equip gear with avatar/pet enmity+ (Relic boots +1 for example)

I haven't had any issues keeping hate on my avatar at all recently as smn/sam in aby or outside and that's swinging around the upgraded slaine. That might change once I get the last few fangs for my Hvergelmir. But I can count the times I've pulled hate of my avatar the past four weeks on two fingers and that's because I got cocky and used back to back garlands of Bliss for 3k each time.

I can't even imagine what you are fighting that can take over 6k damage and still live, while you probably at the same time dropped 4k from an avatar nuke. Did you decide to melee a zone boss to death solo?

Not Solo no :) But there are some NMs that have more than enough hp to survive that. I like to solo my T1 vnms on smn and they have a lot of hp.

I can't answer for the OP, but in my case, it's always:

1) destroy the first enemy in 5-10 seconds
2) struggle to kill the second enemy without dying
3) decide whether to finish off the second enemy with a BP (and rendering the timer useless for the next enemy) or melee it down

The former approach is no different than waiting for the timer to start every fight (1 kill every 45 seconds). The latter approach shaves 20-40% off the time to kill a mob (2 kills every 60-70 seconds). The optimal strategy is quite dangerous to the health of the SMN.

I actually noticed a bit of unexpected hate last week. I used Odin, and pulled hate. Previously I've never seen this happen at all, and I had started to get the impression that Odin was more or less hate free and you could toss it up on monsters without them noticing it. (Never actually tried to sneak Odin someone though). Considering we had a PLD on it as well, it was surprising, even if it was at early battle and he'd probably not have much hate at all.

Every SMN AF3+2 item has hidden effect: enmity +50 XD

I'm not even sure I equip any AF3+2 at all for my Odins. Body could perhaps be smart to macro in if it gives a damage boost to 2 hours as well.
