Platform:PC
ISP:Comcast
Type of Internet Connection:Broadband
Internet Connection Speed:20mb down, 5mb up
Date & Time: various days/times
Frequency: ~20% frequency
Character Name: Kaliyah
Race: Mithra
World: Fenrir
Main Job:Thf, blu, rdm
Support Job:nin, blm, whm
Area and Coordinates: G-10
Party or Solo: Solo or Party
NPC Name: Yoran-Oran
Monster Name:N/A
Steps:
1. Zone in to Abyssea - Attohwa and start repeatable quest "An Acrididaen Anodyne"
2. Obtain "Rockhopper" Key Item (KI) and return to G-10
3. Use Conflux to 4 or 00 with KI "Phial of counteragent"
4. Click on any of the Gasponia
5. Return to base camp (g-10) to speak with Yoran-Oran
6. All other NPC in area load aside from Yoran-Oran
7. Only way to remedy issue is to run away from area and force NPC to reload (using conflux will not correct issue most times).
8. Frequency at which this occurs is roughly 20% of the time and only happens to Yoran-Oran in my experience.

I have completed this quest probably 50+ times and out of that around 15~18 of those times I've had to run from base camp to get him to show up. I'm starting to believe this is a bug with the character when quest is active.

This can happen with ANY NPC in Abyssea. Like, run to the cruor prospector to get more Forbidden Keys.. and he's gone.
Run to a quest NPC.. and it's gone. Run to the conflux to teleport to another.. and it's gone. Even the maws outside abyssea are affected.

It does seem to happen more the worse your connection gets. Not so much speed, but packet loss. (In my case, my router was dying a few months ago... was hell to play in abyssea.)

Hello Kitkat,

I think this sort of thing happens from time to time, where the game does not load an NPC or targetable area properly due to latency or your connection to the game. There's a few methods to resolve this however. First you may want to try running a good distance from the NPC, and try coming back to it, so it can try to reload. Zoning and/or logging in/out seems to work as well.

If you're still having problems with this NPC after trying those methods please let us know! Thank you.

Funny you both resort to this conclusion when I've now done this quest almost 70 times in the last 3 days and this is the only npc it occurs with. I could have just logged in, started the quest, and after using conflux he is the -only- npc that fails to show up and it -only- happens when I have the quest active.

If it happened with other NPC in the same area or even the same zone I'd humor your responses, but after it only happening in this occasion and not to any other NPC's I'm not buying it. Various occurances with various NPC, not just one with a quest active supports your response, only happening to the single npc that a quest is active with doesn't support the possibility I'm just "lossing packets."

Think I'll refrain from posting any issues in the future. ~shrugs~
