Was thinking to myself of a new way to look at elemental spirits usefulness. I'd like to introduce a new concept called "elemental Purge" or "surge"? This new job ability would SHARE timers with "elemental siphon". This new /JA would rather than return MP to a summoner, instead cause a violent explosion of the spirit(treat as a tier III or IV).
While not much, since timer is 5min, I can see a quick use reason in-between blood pacts and blood wards. This also would eliminate the useless waiting for an elemental spirit to cast an AM.
All the standard rules of elemental damage will apply such as weather an mob resistances.

I'd rather that we got a "Ready" ability like BST has for Jug pets. 1 Charge spells include enfeebs, 2 charges for elemental magic, and 3 charges for AM.

I think spirits should be adjusted to reflect the challenge in using them.

For example they are always at melee range, so they are susceptible to Auras, AOE damage that interrupt spells, and AOE silence, and lastly AOE sleep. With so many ways a monster can cancel out the effect of a spirit, the spirit should have vastly improved mechanics. Casting a random spell every 50 seconds is not acceptable when the monster can easily cripple the spirit before that.

The first step to solving this is faster casting. A minimum of every 20 seconds a spell should be cast. With random spells, 10 seconds would be ideal since while it is near chainspell speed, it is also junk spells like Bio and aspir etc, depending on spirit.

I would mind using elementals, but for some reason the "damage resistance" is lost for a players spirits.

I can't really see myself giving up 400+MP from elemental siphon for this

It isn't so much lost, as when you hit a VT elemental it has 400 def for being a monster, and when you have a spirit it has 120 def for being a pet. I'm sure the actual damage reduction is the same for both, just that you notice it less when your pet gets hit for 400 damage and it halves it down to "only" 200.

@razusho... Well if we're talking mp cost a tier IV, V, or AM hovers are 200-400mp cost(whatever the true values are). So yes you can gain MP with elemental siphon, and use a bloodpact or two in two minutes, or get off a 700-1k magic nuke from an elemental purge every what? 5minutes?. For "free". Plus if we're honest summoning an avatar involves a couple of second casting and ordering an avatars, while spirits are super quick to summon and take action automatically.
In fact, when you eliminate the casting time of an AM or tier IV or V, this "purge" looks alot better in my eyes.

It's a nice idea 1k is far too weak for almost 3times the cost of a heavenly strike, the attack would need to be at least x2 what a 5/5 merit pact can do to make it worth the cost

This sounds like a fair adjustment....the main thing would be not to adjusting the spirits on the scale of our avatars.

This one sounds right in the ball park only because SE did not know what to do with spirits so they gave us siphon, if this was to be added now they could be used to nuke the target, instead of people trying to play spirits like avatars. However.....some adjustments should be made to make the spirits a bit more user friendly.

Any other spirit adjustments should go to other threads, this one is about the newly thought JA
