View Full Version : Evaluate RDM merits

Could the devs please take a look at the RDM group 2 merits? They are grossly offbalanced compared to all other jobs.

Where all other 19 jobs can take all merits, then improve them with the remaining upgrades, RDM cannot. It would take a minimum of 18 merit upgrades to do so.

Blind II, Paralyze II and Slow II are all decent spells at first rank.
Dia III, Bio III and Phalanx II are patheticly weak at first rank, and only beat Dia II, Bio II and Phalanx at rank 5 with the smallest of margins. (Phalanx II at rank 5 is even weaker then Phalanx at certain skill ranges.)

Currently I'm using Phalanx II (5/5), Blind II (1/5), Paralyze II (2/5), Slow II (2/5), and if I wanted to obtain Dia III or Bio III (At 5/5, any less makes them weaker then Bio II/Dia II and thus pointless), I'd have to remove all Phalanx II upgrades or all Blind II, Paralyze II AND Slow II upgrades (losing access to those spells.)

So please, change Dia III, Bio III and Phalanx II to be the same at rank 1 as they are now at rank 5, and add minimal upgrades (such as Potency +1) for further upgrades.

Again, RDM is the only job unable to get all group 2 spells/abilities due to the flawed upgrade system for Bio III, Dia III and Phalanx II.

I'd rather group 1 be fixed, having to pick an element to up magic accuracy for is a joke, they could put much better stuff in place of them and just add a magic accuracy category.

Increasing the cap by 5 (10/10 -> 15/15) on Tier 1 and Tier 2 for all jobs would solve this problem and not create balance issues. If everyone merits the optimal choices, so the next 5 of each category would be less of an improvement than any 5 of the first 10.

Again, building a game around a job system is awesome in that it allows you to *not* specialize. Giving us many storage options has moved us even further in this direction. Increasing the Skills/Other/whatever merit categories has moved us yet further in this direction. Forcing us to specialize our jobs into roles at 75-90 is dumb.

Personally, I went 5 Phalanx, 3 Dia III, 1 Slow II, 1 Paralyze II. Given 5 more, I might cap Bio III.

If they re-evalute anything, I hope it is ward potency. Nothing like having a -15 or so phalanxga at endgame where you can go RDM/SCH or SCH/RDM and throw out phalanxga at full power, somewhere around -40.

No reason some jobs spells should level and not others. Unless you are biased and hate some jobs.

Phalanx II - /SCH and phalanxga, its stronger than phalanx 2
Blind II - Blind 1 works better but really dont need to use
Paralyze II - seems usless my Para1 does better than 5/5 in merits
Slow II - only need 3 merits to cap (gear depending)
Dia III - seems like the best option to cap
Bio III - Useless now

these are just mu opinion, i am re-evaluating my merits on RDM, sying that i never play it anymore

Yeah, I always wondered why they left Phalanx II weaker than Phalanx with high enhancing... Seems like the formula should be updated for Phalanx II at least.

It was already adjusted, at high enhancing skill and 5/5 merits Phalanx 2 and Phalanx are at minimum same strength, the only problem is needing so many merits when you can only merit 10. Byrth's idea would fix that.
