As thief 90 I currently use sleep bolts to interupt the magic casting of Blackmage enemies I farm for money, however this can cost me alot of ammo, and when I miss costing me my life sometimes. It would be more effective if there were silence bolts to help out with saving me ammo and my life. Improving the soloability of jobs that can use the enfeebling bolts.
Adding silence bolts will also add a new recipe for wood working and alchemy crafters.

There are silence arrows, which almost tempted me to level archery for that reason alone. I would much prefer that silence bolts were implemented. Along with perhaps higher potency drain bolts :>.

Thf still uses crossbows?

A good THF does.
I would love to see silence bolts also. The arrows don't proc well enough to be reliable. I would recommend leveling archery for paralyze arrows though. They proc VERY well and last a long long time with a potent paralyze effect.

Good idea. I sure wish leveling ranged attack skills wasn't so terribly slow.

A good THF does.Marksmanship has nothing to do with how skilled a thf is. I just shows that you're farming stuff that's nearly beyond your means. You have to ask yourself at this point. Dose the value of what I am farming out weigh the cost that I am putting into it? I.e. bolts, utsusemi, monomi and tonko. Most things you need bolts to farm you're losing mroe money then you know.(And no, I'm not saying you're coming out in the red.) Question; Have you tried subbing dnc? Innate ability to heal, free sneak and invisible and a JA that stuns pretty much as reliably as a sleep bolt would proc.

Yes it does. A THF without marksmanship is only gimping himself in a number of situations. There are definitely situations where bolts don't apply, but there are many more where they do.

Having marksmanship and archery leveled is what expands the means of things a THF can solo. Acid bolts are also of much more use to groups than people give them credit for. This generally stems from the wind resistant ToA meripo camp days where you couldn;t land them on anything.

We aren't just talking about farming fodder mobs. That is no indication of a THF's skill.

/DNC is for low level fodder trash. /NIN and Marksmanship/Archery is for high level stuff. On most NMs you can farm and make REAL gil/gear/seals/EMP upgrade items, /DNC will get you killed pretty quickly.

Sleep arrows are pretty good for this. Same as sleep bolts. Just find something in your range and sleep them to death. Boring I know. But effective.
Lamian Kaman (+1) is a good low delay bow for this purpose. (Also works well for a MDB build)

Curious.... if you're farming Empyrean items....why aren't you also bringing someone on a job that can also stun? ...as in a mage class that can proc.

Why is this not actual farming? There is a ton of gil to be made off of soloing abyssea NMs. And is much more profitable/less time consuming than farming lots of weaker fodder mobs.

Mage procs don't increase emp upgrade item drops, or were you talking about +2 cards/coins etc?
That aside you are right, I dual box those. But bolts/arrows are still helpful in this situation.

Yeah, empyrean items weren't specifically mentioned... AF3 is also called Empyrean armor, which drops for those are affected by proc.

all high level bolts/arrows/bullets and ammo in general need to be revised. It's so boiled down and the /ra function is so broken that ranged attacks in general are almost completely superfluous.
