This doesn't apply to me personally but new and returning players to FFXI seem to have a problem with running out of Traverser Stones fairly quickly. Anyone who has purchased Abyssea at release pretty much has more stones then they know what they do with.

One solution to helping out players who just bought the Abyssea addons is to allow npcs who sell Conquest Point / Imperial Standing / Allied Note items to sell a new item called Traverser Dust sold for 2000, which can be traded to Joachim for an additional Traverser Stone. Since I saw you can do this for Voidstones and Void Watch why not Abyssea.

My linkshell leader also has a problem with keeping his stones. Still, I'd have to say no to this.

Some tips to making stones easier to obtain:
1. Make sure you have all of the Abyssites of Celerity
2. Take a day or two off from Abyssea.
3. When inside of Abyssea doing events, either farm some azure/pearl lights and Time Extensions before the event, during the event, or after the event, or take a small alliance, half doing the event and the other half farming Time Extensions.
4. Join exp parties. You'll lose anything past 120 minutes, but if you only turn in two stones (60 minutes) and walk out with 120, that's more bang for your stone!

I myself have 48 min stones all sojourn, all 3 celerity, I never go below 200 stones. But this isn't for people like me its more for returning players and new players who just bought abyssea. I have an Empyeran weapon and several +2 sets do abyssea everyday there is no possible way I can even run out of stones.

CP / IS / AN are not a unlimited resourse either. This would just help out new players to abyssea it doesn't hurt old players in any way. Old players like me really can't run out of stones. I don't even focus on doing TEs much becuase I rather just burn my stones then spend my time farming TEs.

This is already allowed for Voidwatch so why not abyssea?

...

There was lots of crying about acquisition of CP and such for gears in various threads not too long ago. So, according to others, this would not be a viable solution for the new players either.

All you have to do to acquire stones is wait. Hold off for a week after starting the addons to get a small bank of stones started, then gather up friends and go farm the abyssites that reduce regeneration time (you get free stones each time you get one if you have stones stored with Joachim) and add minutes to each stone and you are good to go.

I'm sorry but this doesn't make any sense, we all have been in that position when abyssea first was released, whats the difference between us back then and new returning player now?
Abyssea isn't outdated yet XD, and returning/new players imo have it easier now than us before, since everything about abyssea is discovered and many ppl have better gear/atma that can easily help out these players obtaining necessary Abyssites/Atmas that make their time in Abyssea more efficient. IMO, staying in one zone for more than 1 hour is reason enough to build lights for TE in that zone, to minimize TS usage. (which is why it's advisable to make your abyssea activity by zone).

All they would have to do is make it so that installing the expansion automatically starts your aquistion of stones instead of talking to the NPC. Many don't talk to the npc and so don't start getting stones built up from when they start.

@ Runespider:

I don't think you can get the CS from Joachim until you hit lvl30.

Yes. Because then every piece of content can turn into Abyssea.

Gathering Conquest Points to help the Three Nations in keeping the beastmen at bay doesn't matter. Saving Abyssea does.

Collecting Imperial Standing to help the Empire with defending the Astral Candesance from hordes of invading beastmen doesn't matter. Saving Abyssea does.

Obtaining Allied Notes to help the Forces of Altana to fight off armies of beastmen doesn't matter. Saving Abyssea does.

While you're at it, just add !! proc's to everything as well~

How about buying them with your thoughts, like for example : Im thinking of 40000 traverser stones then poof talk to Joachim and voila you get 40000 stones.

Can someone else come up with an equally ridiculous request?

Allow for me to stand in 1 spot doing nothing, while gaining copious amounts of EXP that tops all other EXP gain in Vana'diel 10 fold.

Oh, sheesh... My bad. I forgot that's already in the game.

This.

As for the OP's suggestion - no. Reason? This:

Capping lights really doesn't take that long for a small group, take a little time to farm some TEs if you know you are going to stay in the zone for a while instead of using a lot of traverser stones.

ONLY reason I say yes to this is they need to come up with a solution to counter the chest cap issue.

Areas that are overcrowded and reach the cap make it insanely difficult to get chests to drop even when you are capped azure/pearl.

Outside of that I say no for reason already stated.

I guess we need some kind of alternative/fix because they seem to be unable to raise the cap out of resources. I just dunno if this would be it, though it would be an easy fix.

I'll be honest. This is the first time I've heard of this. I've never had a problem getting a chest nearly every single monster once getting decent azure/pearl.

I never had it happen until recently when the server merged. We have issues when our thf gathers up a fuckton of mobs usually at cap azure/pearl 25-30 chests would drop. If the zone is at like 120+ people we've had it where only 6 chests would drop.

[edit] I made a thread about it a little back and the answer I got was it's a resource thing and they can't make more chests spawn. Which would imply we aren't the only ones having an issue with it.

Assume you get Abyssea on Monday at noon. You wait until the next Sunday, go into Abyssea using 1 stone, get into a party and gather TE and cruor. You stay long enough to get 120 minutes and 9,000 cruor. You buy 1 abyssite of Celerity, solo the Tonberry, and spend literally 10 minutes doing the Whisker quest.

At noon the next day, (exactly 1 week later), you'll have 17 stones and will be collecting them at the rate of 3 per day.

I don't see the issue unless a person wants to use mules just to 2box or collect KI's / pop sets. People who play in Abyssea need cruor, XP and base items which you get easily while doing TE farming.
